I turn off all the assists and use manual w/ clutch. I found out that it makes it 10 times easier to control a drift if you can control the clutch.

It is because of simulation steering. Forza 3 had steering assist even if you shut off all assists, so could be drift god without really trying, you just had to point the stick where you wanted to go and the game did the rest. In Forza 4 they added the ability to turn off steering assist so now you have to actually catch the car yourself and know how to do it without causing snap oversteer. Just practice a lot and you'll get it. It would probably also help to download some drift tuning setups instead of trying to tune it yourself right off the bat.

I'm talking about the aid. I turn steering to normal and there is a night and day difference to me. Manual with clutch is also a must. In forza 3 you could get away with no clutch if you had a bazillion horse power.

Long time Forza Fan here. I've got every copy of the game ever made including Forza 4.

The answer you guys gave about the simulation steering is correct. Thats exactly why there's so much snap oversteer when correcting a slide. Turning off the simulation steering is sort of cheating in my opinion but the OP will get the desired effect he's looking for.

If you guys want to do a hotlap battle, I dare one of you to try and beat my B Class time around Nurburgring GP Full without using a Muscle Car or Leaderboard car.

My best is a 2:14.1~ something in a Merc 190E. If anyone can crack 2:13, you've beat me.

I'm so down for a hotlap battle. Hell, if you guys want you can come join my group of friends and I. We race 25+ lap endurance races (with a few rules which we've worked on over the years) and always welcome new people. Try not to feel overwhelmed though, we are pretty damn fast without using leaderboard cars.

Car club is AERL or Apex Endurance Racing League

Really. All my friends that are really good at drifting have these crazy set-up that wouldn't work on a real car and they beast it. I tried to emulate my personal s14 and I'm terrible. I guess this another one of those games I can do better in real life, like most FPS's.

Cool. My GT is the same as on here.

Try to be easy on the throttle, small corrections. I'd have to know more about your setup/car to make any other suggestions. When people are learning to drift they have a tendency to stay on the throttle at the same amount throughout the curve regardless of angle/speed. It's very much like a real drift car, if you have a lot of power you can't always have a heavy foot, you have to be very delicate with it.

Aside from turning simulation steering off, definitely use the controller over the wireless wheel, it's probably much more accurate. You can also play with the settings to help with the balance; I like to stiffen the front sway bars to max and leave the rear at about 85%-95% so I can maintain the angle I enter at without, erm, over-oversteer.

anyone wanting to mess around my GT is "user errors" - I'll be on this weekend. I prefer to run tandem and do exciting entries over running stupid lines and competing for points.
