Oh, I know. I simply posted that pic to be slightly sarcastic and to present a great picture to the rest of the forum.

Ah, the downside of internet sarcasm. If only there were a special font for when it was applied. Of course, I think almost everything I post would likely be in said font.

Yeah the YJ turned out to be a rot box haha. Guy wanted too much for it any way.

So begins my Jeep finding quest. I think I like the looks of the TJ jeeps a little better but I like the Jurassic Park jeeps too haha. It's just a matter of finding the 4.0 with a manual trans that isn't a total beater.I don't mind fixing stuff but I am not looking for a full frame off restoration either.

That's what I did, picked up a '04 Suburban Z71 for winter/around town family stuff not long after getting the 86.

It had around 100K miles on it, was $50K new (had the original sticker in the glovebox) and I picked it up for about 1/5th of that.

Of course, it's hard to peel the top back on it without a cutting torch.

I also thought about a wrangler but ended up going with an FJ cruiser. I only wish the FJ was topless, otherwise I love it.

Taking the top off is one of my main motivations. Used ones are just so damn expensive.

If it's just a beater and not going to be used to pull a trailor it anything for that matter. Why not a cheap smaller one with better gas millage like the geo tracker?

My step dad already had a tracker haha. He loves the thing. They have a really tight knit community believe it or not. He will stop at a gas station if he sees another tracker there and they will discus the various options that each of their cars has. Its pretty funny.

I am pretty set on the wrangler though, and if I get a decent one maybe the opportunity to pull a trailer with a four wheeler or motorcycle would be nice.

I really want a Wrangler in the short future. They are great to work on and tons of aftermarket parts.

And it is convertible.

And you can go anywhere.

And they are small.

Get one with the inline 6, the chrysler engines suck. My jeep friends all love the i6 more than the minivan v6. The pentastar I got no idea about it.

Agreed! The 4.0l are amazing bone stock, but even more amazing when you pony up the extra cash for a crate 4.0l (http://high-performance-engines.com/...duct_Code=HP88)!

Yeah a good friend of mine had a 4.0 cherokee and we went everywhere in that thing. The body and transmission quit long before the motor ever showed signs of giving up. Great motors.
