I don't have any kids, but I have some pretty short friends (~5 ft) and they say that they are comfortable sitting in the back. But after a few twists and turns in the road they start complaining about there feet aching from being cramped. I couldn't imagine road tripping the car with a family.

For the scuff marks, stuff a folded towel into the "magazine holder" thingy. Had the car for 10 minutes and it looked like my daughter used the seatback for a Welcome mat.

It's an issue. Especially when the seats don't have memory. Fold it forward, strap my son, and slide and recline the seat all over again. My daughter is old enough to help herself so she climbs in to the passenger side. Putting her behind me wouldn't make sense, I would have to climb in even further to attend to my son. Our garage has another car and cabinets line the passenger wall. PITA. So, we use the third car, an SUV, when they are passengers.

Come on, they don't eat that much oil.

The back seats are for carrying spare engines when yours inevitably fails.

i have a 5yr old son and his child seat is behind the passenger side. my wife is 5'2" so she scoots the seat forward so that his feet aren't so cramped. i have a seat protector hanging from the back so the back of the seat doesn't get scuffed by his shoes.

no issues for him climbing in or out.

I'm 6'3". Wife is 5'3". 8yr old and a 5yr old.
Youngest sits behind me cross legged. Oldest sits behind her. She can leave him enough room to have his feet down. Definitely workable for short sub-hour trips. Feedback may vary based on whine tolerance of passengers.

Once that 5 year old gets too big to cross his legs, I'll have some trouble though. I'll just have to leave somebody at home

Youngest in the back. Oldest in the front. Wife at home. Need the wife? A kid sits Indian style behind you. Big kids? They can walk.

That funny. I just went to the beach over the weekend for a trek/walk and all 3 kids fitted in the car perfectly. Kids LOVE the car, more than the minivan. They fit well - 2, 6, and 10. Wife enjoyed the kid free time too. Bonus. That's exactly how I pictured it.

They consume about half a quart every 2,500 miles, which is the time you need to change them.

My 2004 lasted me 167,305 miles on original factory engine; and it didn't fail, it lost compression. Besides, the engines are about 500 lbs, you can stow that in the middle where the drive shaft runs and still able to fit two more adults in the rear seats

I carpool with 3 other guys from my office, and they fit fine for the 35-40 minute commute. It is easier if the taller person is in the back so they can spread their legs around the seat back and you just have to make sure the tallest 2 aren't sitting inline.

Nah...they should fit in the trunk just fine as long as it's not packed with junk...
