That is about as loud as my sp Elite was when I got it. Just be patient it will open up and give you a nice low rumble. No point in spending extra money now to have it too loud for you later.

Why is it that exhausts on this car take a few hundred miles before they get louder?

The tips are resonated and the insides need to get coated with some carbon so the muffler stops working so well. Greddy understands this but would rather over build than under build. When I put mine on I thought it was quitter than stock 6 months later it is just as loud as all the rest but doesn't drone or idle to loud. They built it to function for aero like the stock exhaust. After all the research I did I really like how much time and effort greddy put into this setup to make a great exhaust that won't have your ears bleeding during daily driving but lets everyone know your there when you lay into the gas.

I ordered this morning the HKS Front pipe with 2 resonators from Tony at FA20club.

I should receive it around may 6th.

I will post a video update to show how different the sound is going to be at that time.

I think it sounds really good actually, but matter of opinion I guess. Nice to have it loud when you're on the gas but idle and cruise would be really mellow - couldn't ask for anything better IMO

Here's mine, though it's not Borla; you kinda get an idea of how it will sound if you changed out front/over pipe.

Rev Work UEL header + Motiv over pipe + Evasive EVS catless front pipe + Greddy SP Elite axle back - stock mid pipe.

Sidnacious,

Does your front pipe have a resonator or it is a straight pipe ?

It sound like you have some drone.

The HKS front pipe have 2 resonators and should be quieter than the invidia resonated front pipe with one resonator.

If it become too loud with the HKS front pipe then I may always try to resell it here and give a try to the Perrin catted front pipe instead..

All catted front pipes are even more expensive but they should be a bit quiter then resonator pipe.

Catless front pipe : around 200$-250$

Resonated front pipe : around 250$ - 325$

Catted front pipe : Around 400-450$

Only time will tell if I'm doing a good move..

No res, straight front pipe. The rasp is due from the poor mic quality of the iphone.

In person it sounds much deeper. Refer to my first vid - when i make a left; you can hear the deeper WRXish rumble from the distance - well thats how it sounds up close in person.

Drone is little to none but the car does scream after 4k rpm. A stock FRS with Greddy Evo 3 still drones more than my car. Also keep in mind that the droning sound from the 2nd vid is probably caused by my Greddy intake.

I also was thinking about changing my front pipe to a resonated one. Currently the car has a more rawer sound probably cause catless and nonres. I'm sure the resonated front pipe would make the car sound a lot cleaner.

Well I like how my car sound at 15 seconds in that video but once it is warm we cannot hear it at all. Even when I step on gas, inside the car I dont hear any rumble. May be at the back of the car and outside we can hear something when I push it but there is just not enough difference when I drive my car inside when I compare before and after the mods.

How's the sound level compared to stock when cruising at 70mph (~110kph for you funny friends up north).

The sound is pretty much the same as a stock car when cruising at 65 mph. No difference at all inside the car. Super Quiet !

May be outside it may be different then stock but I dont know for now nobody told me yet and I didnt made a movie when driving to hear it myself outside.
