S2000 and Miata go hand in hand, i'd compare the FRS/BRZ more so to the Genesis.

I don't think people bought an S2000 for looks...

The FRS/BRZ is very generic in the sense of the classic sporty FR body style.

But that's like saying your girlfriend is very generic because she looks like other Swedish models.

Jokes aside, as stated before, eliminate some of your modesty during your next commute and watch how many other motorists and pedestrians check out your car.

Design is based on the 2000GT which is anything but generic.

For a $27-$30K car, I think the design is very well executed despite the inevitable toning down from the concept (especially the gorgeous FT86 II concept).

Case in point, look at the rising fenders, aggressive lights and significant tumblehome on both these cars, except one is a $150K exotic and the other is worth 400% less!

Is it visually more stunning than an S2000? Absolutely. Is it the best designed among it's current competition? Absolutely.

The FR-S IMO stands out very much, do I notice how much people look at it? Not really. Im too busy having fun in it. Well half of the time. Most of the time im paying attention to the road. I do see on the Highway onlookers and get thumbs up every now and then. As far as my co-workers go, well.. they all have kids for the most part except one.. he and I are the only ones in our shop who have sports cars. So Two have the chevy impala's last gen. Two drive ford Focus. Pretty much since I have been in the military I have had a sports car of some type and a hatch back. My first sports car was a Supra Mkiii N/A and auto.. but was very fun to drive for kinda my first car. The other guy with the Sports car drives a an '03 Z33, hes 21, but always gives me a hard time about my car because its not as fast as his.. I always just shake my head. Of course they give me crap about the fact that is the auto and not the manual.. but I dont care because my S2000 is a manual, and I drive the hell out of her somedays.

There is nothing generic about the engine placement in this car, nor the weight; though it is a lil heavy (but safe) for its size.

What other cars have fenders that are raised ABOVE the hoodline?

The overall roadster FR S2000 is unique in that its the only one in its price range and quality, next step above it being the Boxster and Z3 or Z4. The AS2 S2000 sold in the $49,000. range in Canada compared to the $26,000. FR-S.

I think the 86 has nicer lights and a nicer face and tail compared to the S2000, at least with a decent body kit like the 5 AD. I think Honda tried to stick with a form over function boy racer image whereas Toyobaru added details like the 86 fender decoration, fangs, fender bumps front and flares in the rear. It takes very little money to bring this car to its fuller potential looks wise. That's what I have tried to do with mine.

This 100%...

There are very few cars on the road that even resemble a FRS these days and throwing some more lines, schemes, colors, etc. can actually alienate people.

The 86/FRS/BRZ is a sexy bitch and last thing you could call it would be generic.

Any car that catches someones eye and turns heads is anything but generic.

Generic cars don't win a Laundry list of awards. There aren't any other cars like the frs/brz.
