Like others have said, what is your end goal? That will determine where you spend your money. Mine is my DD and I have done mostly cosmetic things. Custom door sills, center console plaque, HID's, LED exterior light change out, HVAC gauge swap, radar detector along with springs and exhaust. With a bigger budget, I would have put KW V3's on my car, but they just weren't in my budget for a DD.
Best part about this car, it is a canvas to do anything with and make it your own car. Create an ultimate Autox or track car or a fun as hell daily driver, that is half the fun.

AST 4150 Coilovers when they are released with camber plates. Nice wheels and sticky tires We're biased though.

Enkei RFP1s....

"The wheel of choice for people who want to look like everyone else!"

BTW: Not hating, just playing. I was parked in the sports car paddock at Barber Motorsports Park for the Indy and Grand-Am race last weekend and out of 50 S2000s, over half had RFP1s! Great wheels, light, strong, but they are like @#$holes!

Willing to bet you won't track your car. Just go with stance. Neon lights lambo doors and slammed to the ground.

On the serious side... 5k is enough to get full bolt ons plus a decent set of coils. Check out my build I have so far. Just spent a little under 5k.

Why not spend some of that taking a roadtrip and attending some HPDE or autocross events? You may change your mind about what mods you want to make...

That's the issue. There is no right direction.

Tell us what your goals are then you can get better answers. I'm a little about OEM bling, everyday drive-ability, and performance. These would make me happy and should fall around your budget to make a visual and visceral difference over stock:

TRD or Factory Tune aero kit
TRD CAI
TRD Exhaust (or the many other full exhaust systems that exist)
TRD Shift Knob
Lowering springs or coilovers
Lightweight, flow cast aluminum wheels (Enkei, WedsSport, etc.)

About the "learn to drive your car first" bit - that's biased towards a minority of owners on an extreme end of the spectrum. Makes more sense if you're always taking it to the track or endangering lives by driving 10/10ths on public roads. It depends on your reasons for owning the car. The average enthusiast buys a sports car for entertainment and takes the occasional opportunity for a spirited drive or track day. Hardly any appreciable time is spent driving at the limit to reap any performance benefits from mods. And body kits [generally] hurt performance more than help. So why do we mod? For the same reason we bought the car: entertainment. An already special sports car becomes a little more special with upgrades (not applicable to those who only use this car as a track tool/are emotionally detached).

Don't feel obligated to master how to drive to Walmart "at the limit" before you're allowed to mod lolol

With 5k might as well slap on a turbo!
