Power output per their chart is 180.66 (exhaust + intake + tune) vs 155.68 (exhaust baseline), that's 24.98whp peak to peak difference.

Absolutely, that's probably the biggest reason to get a good tune.

Based on what chart? The baseline vs final shows about 8whp gained at 5000rpm:

Will, thank you for your skeptism. It actually makes me feel good that we are doing something that most feel is above average.

Once some more cars are tuned we will see what the average gains are for a car with similar modifications. I hope they are the same as Vinh's, but of course this may not be the case.

Please note that the figures on the image you posted are displayed at one RPM point. Note that the data point is at 6870rpm, which is where the intake and flash produced the most power (180whp) - however, if you look closely at the graph you will see that the baseline peak power occured at 6000rpm, where the power was just shy of 160whp.

Also, referring to the claim of no power gains at 5000rpm - that is in reference to the intake versus the intake + tune:

I think it wise to be skeptical of tuners out there, esspecially those new to the market or type of car. I am the same way with anyone making claims outside of the norm.

I look forward to being more involved with the FR-S in the future, but it's not reasonable to expect that I would take up any skeptical potential client on their offer to a "try before you buy" dyno session when you consider the cost of dyno and tuning time.

Thanks Vinh and Colholm for your support, it's much appreciated!

Our Top Tuner FR-S will most likely be getting some forced induction shortly, and then we will do a tune with some good fuel which should make some big power. Check out this Ice Racing video Scion did of our Tuner Challenge race at Mecaglise in Quebec:

My car before flash with just exhaust and drop in got 176 whp. Baseline was similar to theirs. So this is not nothing new to me and our cars with a proper setup will make proper gains safely. 180 whp with his mods is still a safe tune im sure they could squeeze out 5 to 7 more . Im happy that this thread was made to show what this car can do breathing.

^^ How can you say it's a safe tune without seeing AFR (at a minimum), timing and knock logs?

Sasha, like I've been saying all along... I'm not knocking the tune at all, and not saying that there aren't good gains. I'm just stating that the gains are substantially higher than other cars with the same (or similar) mods. I totally believe the baseline + intake vs baseline + intake + tune charts, it's the gains from the baseline to the baseline + intake that seem a bit too big. IMO, the baseline seems low, especially since it's a solid 15whp (~8%) lower than another dyno with the same car.

From what I can find, this is the only actual dyno (other than AEM's marketing dyno) of an AEM intake so there's nothing to compare average gains with.

As for my offer, that was purely so you try the same tune and back it up on another car. I would never expect a tuner to give a full custom tune on a try it before buying basis.

Out of curiosity, is the car still running the AEM MAF translator box, or was that removed with the final tune?

A few more FR-S owners have driven this tune on my car now with positive feedback.

3 co workers of mine who daily FRS got to try out driving my ride and were thoroughly impressed based on pure qualitative impressions.
