Haha, in response to Scotty, very low ground clearence would be one reason. It doesnt get much worse in terms of tire setup than RWD (but that doesnt stop it from being fun). Lastly, I live in Oregon and it snows like 2 weeks out of the year and NO ONE knows how to drive in it, I'd like to keep my cars dent free.

Dunkin, lols, sadly I do feel that 2 door vehicles are really inconsiderate for passengers and friends. Forcing them in and out of the back, also having driven a two door with all the seats full, it was pretty unpleasant for all parties involved. Of course, sports cars and other two seaters are the epitome of selfish spending and driving.

That being said, I love a car that responds well, after motorcycling everywhere I really like feeling "agile" on the road.

Very small, limited seating space when driver is 6'4".
Everyone that drives a 2door is an asshole.

Bonuses
Good mileage
Cheap Car
Fun to Drive
Great choice if your solo
Good choice if your S.O. has a truck/SUV
Rear wheel drive is awesome for snow. I've been driving in it my whole life. I go skiing in my 1990, 2100 pound mazda Miata, I drift half way to the ski hill, wicked fun. "Everyone that drives a motorcycle is an asshole" < Sound familiar?

I'm hoping it can hit close to what's been announced for the Veloster turbo: 27/38 US MPG. The Veloster already has a hatchback (which I crave), if it has way better fuel economy too, it might push me over the edge into another Hyundai.

The Veloster turbo looks like a better deal, but I won't judge until I get an official price for the FR-S/BRZ.

I'm curious why you wouldn't drive it off-road. It has the potential to be a really awesome little rally car too! Just needs the right tires for it, maybe a little change to the suspension....

As far as ground clearance goes, the FRS looks to have as good ground clearance as any cheapo car...ever notice how out of proportion the bodykits look? They have to fill in too much space!

Also EU test cycle gives about 20% higher numbers than US or something...so combined is likely under 30. But what does 35mpg combined EU mean? It means steady cruise on the highway will be >40mpg hehe. EU test cycle reports lower numbers probably because people in Europe drive slightly more intelligently and waste less fuel or something jk I wouldn't know.

You can buy a minivan or an actual bus if you want to drive around passengers? I rarely drive people around so your complain is irrelevant to my case.

get friends who drive SUVS/4 door cars problem solved.

or do what some of my friends do who drive 4 door cars, they know we are going to the bar/out, so they drink a few beers/shots = cant drive( all seniors in college)

call me selfish but im buying this car for myself, with no care for any future passengers. Been driving a truck for five years, want a smaller faster spots car FOR MYSELF. I'll probably never sit in the back seat unless drunk and cannot think logically:happy0180:

i orginally wanted a tsx, but too pricey for used, and plan on driving the fr-s for another 10+ years at least.

That's good man, I wish I could be as decisive as you about it I am very back and fourth. I love the car I just keep questioning if it's the car I've always wanted or if it's the car I will continue to enjoy for years to come. Realistically, it probably will take me 3-5 years to finish paying for it, will I still want it when Im done?

haven't seen a car that is as aestheically pleasing imo at this price range.
dont want a civic/corolla/ gensis' back looks like a dam tiburon, everyone has a g35...ect

my plan is to drive this car for at least the next 10 years.(been driving a tacoma for the past 5 years). By then i should have a wife or something and if i need a diff car ill just use her and my $$$ combined for some small suv lol

idk how old/your economic situation, but this is the car i want right now, originally wanted a tsx used, but too expensive and old

anyways back on topic, this car will for sure beat the MPG my tacoma gives me,

2X city/3x freeway will be great

30 mpg combined would be great. Something along the lines of 26 city/ 34 hwy hopefully...

But anything over 30 hwy would make me happy

When trying to predict the future, I always like looking at the past. I look at 86 competitors and where they are at now, I came accross this craigslist.

http://corvallis.craigslist.org/cto/2791889837.html

Car Background: http://www.edmunds.com/hyundai/tiburon/

So if I buy the 86 brand new, I drive it daily for six years, and go to sell it and get about what 40% of my money back? 30%? I'm guessing if I put all those features on an 86 it would be closer to 30%. Obviously you get some attention for having a unique new car as well which is always nice.

When I crunch my own economy numbers it seems like roughly the equivalent to spend 5-10% of my income over the next six years on a well running fun car that I WANT to drive. Honestly, that sounds like a pretty good idea.

This is what my fiance and I are doing; I'm buying the FR-S/BRZ because I want a small sporting coupe and we're getting her a Yaris for when we do things that involve more than 2 people.

If people are in the backseat of my FR-S I won't really care about how comfortable they are because I didn't buy the car to transport people - I bought it to have fun.
