Some magazine said (TAKE THIS WITH A POUND OF SALT) that it got an "Official" 42 UK MPG, which translates to about 35 US MPG.

But they could have been just trolling, for all we know...

I think I may have read something that mentioned roughly 30 mpg combined... I would have figured a review from Japan would have released specs on this that were translatable...

35mpg sounds feasible. My '03 RSX-S gets 31mpg on the highway at around 70 MPH...and it is 10 year old technology or older and weighs at least 100lbs more.

Mr.Jay 01-11-2012 02:24 AM

Moto-P in the Greedy Cars and Coffee thread mention the FRS getting 34MPG

Longhorn248 01-11-2012 02:50 AM

Anything over 30 on the highway would be awesome. Over 30 combined mileage would be insane.

Kage 01-11-2012 06:30 AM

I can get about 34 hwy with my '00 celica (with cai and flywheel) so if I can get around that stock with this I'm happy.

Korupt56 01-11-2012 10:55 AM

It will definitely get 100 times better gas mileage than my 05 RX-8 ever did. So Imma be happy with whatever it gets haha

ROFL.... an H2 Hummer gets comparable gas mileage to an RX-8. I kid!

RX-8 is around 15 to 17 combined. Hummer H2 is 10 to 12. Both are terrible. If the FRS gets anywhere near 35 combined we will all be laughing. A base Civic 1.8 5 speed gets 29 MPG combined.

Damn 35 MPG combined on a FR-S? Get out of here!

But if true would be awesome!

slizoth 01-11-2012 12:49 PM

Im stoked to hear the actual gas mileage and find out the final price. I'm still quite hopeful it will be a very affordable and fuel efficent car that is still fun to drive. The cons to the FR-S are simple...

Wouldn't drive it in snowy or off road conditions, duh.
Very small, limited seating space when driver is 6'4".
Everyone that drives a 2door is an asshole.

Bonuses
Good mileage
Cheap Car
Fun to Drive
Great choice if your solo
Good choice if your S.O. has a truck/SUV

But is there a choice? I don't see many cars with one door, so we have to accept at least that one useless extra. :burnrubber:

Passengers are too noisy. Always shouting "slow down!" as if they are a built-in speed limiter device which can't be turned off.
And they increase fuel consumption, too. Sometimes it's worth it, though ;)

Why wouldn't you drive it in the snow? Are you just one of those "RWD cars can't be driven in the snow people", or is there an actual reason?

I live in Michigan; if I end up getting one of these cars it’s going to be on snow for half the year....
