I don't work in the car industry, but I do work in sales, and unfortunately this is often true. One of the reason my numbers are always good is because I've trained my team to sell as I always did: find out what they want and make sure we have it available. It's really not more complex than that. Being friendly and relateable always helps, but in the end, it's about having what the customer wants and giving it to them with a smile. Too many people in sales only think about bottom line numbers. They forget that our job is providing a good or service to people. The more people we do that for, the more money we make. This is not rocket science. Happy customers spend more money. Happy customers come back to YOU to spend more money. Happy customers recommend YOU to other people so they can spend THEIR money too.

I greatly appreciate when businesses provide good service without being pushy, and I reward them just as customers have rewarded me; repeat business and many referrals.

Yeah. Especially when, on the walk back I saw a fresh Ultra Marine on their prep lot, pointed it out to the Scion guy and discovered he hadn't even heard of it!

I had a guy at a Honda dealer tell me how much faster an 08 SI was over the 08 rsx because of the LSD that comes standard in the SI. Ok the diff is true but the speeds are virtually the same. Lol.

At one of the first dealerships I went to, the guy swore that they were going to be releasing a turbo version of the FRS in 2013. Seriously where do they hear this stuff? And shouldn't any salesman know better than to try and talk me out of buying a car right then and there?

It's prolly one of the fliptards on here or he frequents the site enough to see the "turbo confirmed" threads.

thats less of a retarded thing to say than the other things in this thread considering that just about everywhere else the skyactiv does have a compresion ratio of 13 to 1. i would be willing to bet he actually read some of the literature and thats what he came away with.

Keep in mind it doesn't cost a dealership anything to take on a guy wanting to be a sales rep. If he works out, fine. If he doesn't, he'll be gone in a short time.

I agree. Is it worse than the Scion sales girl who was trying to explain the traction control system to me and had no idea what she was saying? She eventually said,"It's for drifting or something like that".
