And I will have to say currently because what we have seen may not be final spec. Things could be added or taken away.

But let's go with what we have seen so far as being final spec.....

kiAlso he BRZ premium does not have dual zone hvac and push start. It has exactly the same stuff as the FR-S but includes Hids and navigation. Subaru currently charges $1000 for their Navigation system in the WRX. So figure pricing like this.

FR-S $23k 6 speed manual
BRZ premium $24k 6 speed manual (HIDS, Navigation)
BRZ limited $26k 6 speed manual (adds dual zone ac, push start, heated leather\alcantara seats, fog lights)

Add $1000 for 6 speed automatic

The base 2012 WRX is $25.6k the premium WRX $28k and the WRX limited is $29k. Also add $750 for destination and delivery charge. Automatic Climate control is standard on all WRX models. Leather trim seats and hids are included in the limited wrx for only $1k more that the premium wrx. But why is the Premium WRX over $2500 more than the base WRX? You only get sunroof, heated front seats and fog lights.

Also keep in might the 2013 WRX is going to be all new...2.0 liter turbo with 270+hp, could be out in less than 6 months after the BRZ comes out. They could price it much higher than the current WRX.

A loaded BRZ will be about the same price as a base WRX...which is $26k.
There is no way Scion is going to sell the FR-S at $20k to 21k...not even $22k...$23k is more realistic. We could get lucky and they price it at $22k. Just think of what the Civil Si sells for. Oh damn I just checked and the 2012 Civic Si coupe is way overpriced its $23.1K base with summer tires and its $24.6k for the model with Navigation. I only bring this up because both models of the BRZ supposedly have Navigation.

Comparing the base Civic Si coupe which runs $23.1k to what the FR-S might cost and we might be disappointed but hey Scion is all about value, right? The tC is really the equal to the Civic Si right? Why is the tC $4k cheaper? I know the Civic Si has a limited slip diff, but damn the Honda is expensive.

Hey Scion if you are reading this...Price the FR-S at $22k base and let us add options. You know what options some of us want...Dual Zone AC with push start, HIDS, leather\alcantara seats, fog lights.

Subaru if you are reading this...Price the BRZ limited at $23k and the Premium at $25k

BRZ premium doesn't really have much more than the FR-S. So I'd say at most 2k more.

We don't know what the differences are yet. If the base BRZ comes with HID, dual climate, LEDs, 17" wheels, and navigation I could see it being $3k more.

Correction on where I'm getting at, based on motortrend's presumptuous assumption where it seems to basically come with the HIDs and well navigation it really doesn't seem to be much. If it comes with the dual climate and in that sense that little push button (>_> fine fine I'll stop mention about it once these days...) I can see that price difference.

but yes yes, you're correct if they include everything else! Sigh... lol. I realize out of all the things I want. I just want a push button. ... ... <_< so... petty and useless yet... its amazing @_@. And if I ever get one, I'll probably not give a crap in 2 days. The wonders of marketing...

$23K for BRZ Premium (can delete the navi and 16 wheels are fine for this price)
$21K for FR-S (again, 16 wheels are fine)

The thretshold for me is $22K for FR-S. $24K for BRZ is already above my threshold, but if Scion does $22K or less, I will at least try to haggle at a Subaru dealer.

All we have right now for a source is magazines (more than just mt). If we believe them it will only be hids and navi. Scion shows 17s in the specs. So 2k max msrp difference IMO.

There are quite a few pieces of this puzzle.

1. What the Toyota CEO wants to do
2. Whether or not Toyota will go about this business as usual (i.e. maximizing profits, squeezing us till the last penny)
3. What Subaru really thinks about BRZ (do they REALLY want to sell it or they are just playing along with the controlling stakeholder)

Depending on how all these pieces come together, I think we are looking at a difference of 5 - 6 K easily. Another sense is that Toyota can afford to lose money (I am not saying it will), but Subaru probably cannot. Regardless, I am rooting for the lowest possible prices and I will not pay a premium for a CEO's pet project.

You are crazy. The Premium BRZ and the FRS will not differ more than $1500-2000 max. Write that down.

Sorry, I was not clear. I was not talking about the price difference between BRZ and FR-S. I was talking about the price of each model and each trim. The lower end of BRZ Premium can be $23K (although, it is unlikely) and the high end can be $28K (hey, Subaru could still say the price is "around" WRX). Scion will have a smaller mergin. Scion's low end is $20K - 21K and they could still price this at $25K. The Scion CEO could still claim we should be pleasantly surprised with "how attainable" the tag is considering how great this car is. I won't.

That isnt what you wrote in the other post, you were speaking about the difference between Scion and Subaru and how Toyota could afford to lose money and Subaru couldn't.

Not sure what this new posts means. Scion will only offer one trim. They do not offer multiple trims of the same car.
