The bolsters are leather the centers are suede.

I like alcantera and all, but I prefer leather. It's just easier to clean and maintain IMO. Alcantera tends to shed or fall apart fairly easy. At least it did on my previous bimmer. It also tends to attrack dust and grease.

I have some 14 year old alacantara suede that has help up fine. On areas that your hands touch a lot you can quickly damage it (oils) but that doesn't tend to be the case on seats.

I'd go with cloth seats over leather in a performance car.. leather is too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and slippery in all weather.

But.. we don't have winter

We have summer, summer, summer, spring lol

I like the cloth, but wouldn't mind leather/alcantara combination.

I agree. Cloth for me. A luxury car I might think different.

what would you reckon is the weight of the seats? by how much would seated heats be heavier?

i really hope they include weights on items such as seats and wheels. i'd love to check whether it would be worthwhile to change & shave weight on such items

Unless you're really tracking, in which case you're changing them regardless, you're wasting your time.

Agreed. I hear a lot of talk on this forum about being lightweight and saving ounces everywhere but I think that a very small percentage of these cars will ever see a scenario where this stuff really matters. Anyone who will be seriously tracking the car will gut the interior and for all the weekend warriors out there, 10 lbs isn't going to make a big difference compared to just being a better driver.

Ill probably buy a limited model and will never notice the extra weight because it doesn't become apparent until you approach the limits of the car which I will probably never do.

I find it amusing when some of the 'bigger' among us talk about gutting a car for performance. Dieting is generally more cost efficient since you're saving on food as well as putting less weight in the car. :P

I know, that was incredibly random. But I'm feeling random today.

The last thing you want distracting you from turning out a hot lap is a cold bum. Even during the summer, the morning heat can be rather cool. I'd take the 10 lb penalty every time!
