Worked or were stationed there? I'm a civilian.

Now we have to meet up, just to put it to the test.

Stationed. I'm all for the Armed Forces, but they got bratty kids.

Hokay; come on down to MoCo and buy me a brew, we shall decide your fate.

Yeah, there are certainly some bratty kids and bratty military folks too.

Like any group, there are those that are a PITA.

I'm down for a beer....MoCo? Montgomery Co? That's south of Baltimore? Sounds like a plan. Will want to check out as many places as I can.

You don't want to commute from Montgomery County to APG. I'll more than likely be at some of the future Hunt Valley meets, I encourage you to check those out. Interesting varied turn out when the weather's nice.

I know. Just want to check out as much of the area while I'm there as possible. Do some touristy stuff. Do some local stuff. Try to get a feel for the area. My east coast experience is limited to NY and north of there. Never really checked out anything south of NY.

Once I get out there I'll start looking up meets and track days for something to do. I'm expecting to have a fair amount of free time on my hands, and the gym and xbox can only absorb so much of it.

As for commuting, I'm trying to stay within 30 minutes of APG, give or take a little. As of right now, I don't know which site at APG I'll be working at and no idea on hours. I usually try to go in early so I can get off work early, but I don't know if that'll work out here.

Research has me looking in the Bel Air area for an apartment. Was also considering White Marsh area and Abingdon. Upside to White Marsh is that I guess there a Subi meet up out there at BWW every week or two. I'll be working at APG, just don't know which site yet.

Anyone here on APG? How's the gym? I'll either be using one there or needing to join something near the apartment. I saw a Gold's Gym in Bel Air, that would be ok I suppose. Have to check it out and see what it's like in person.
I work on APG at ATC, there are two gyms the main one is nice gets a lil crowded after 4ish and there's another by a weld shop which isn't too bad but that closes earlier. Golds in bel air is cool, I recommend anytime fitness since there are two in bel air and another in white marsh all open 24/7 u get a key fob just swipe.

Harford county for all but 3 years of my life when i lived in Baltimore in my late teens/early 20s.

If you stay in Harford County, don't live anywhere along Route 40. HDG is a notable exception to this rule only if you can afford to live in Bulle Rock. If you move to Bel Air, avoid the "seasons" apartments. Like the plague. Most other places are good.

Good to know, thanks. Hopefully I can use one of the base gyms, but I'll have to see how things go. Everything is really up in the air right now. I saw the rreviews on Anytime Fitness, looks pretty nice. Just want someplace close to wherever I end up staying.

Great info, thanks.

So far I'm considering the Extended Stay America in Bel Air.
or possibly the Berkshires in Towson. The ESA is probably the easiest place to stay. All inclusive. The Bershires adds a little more cost and complication, but for a much nicer place.

Disclaimer: all info based on internet research...

Will check out HDG. I haven't looked in that direction yet.

Track days: Cecil county 1/4 mile strip I believe. Shooting ranges: freestate in whitemarsh is my fav nearest that area with best hours but I heard there was one closer to Belair. The hours at freestate are the best for my schedule. I go any chance I get to skip out of work early and squeek out a few rounds. Its new people are nice and they don't have a no head shot rule as far as I have seen!

Towson isn't worth the drive for the extra $$. There's enough to do in Belair and the traffic in Towson area is stupid. I live in parkville and drive to fallston 5 days a week but I just go up one road 12 miles the back way. If I take rt1 or the highway it takes longer and traffic is crap. If its a short stay I'd lodge close by to post and go explore other areas when your bored.

Horst and Mcann is the range in Bel Air. Some people say it's expensive but it's close so I'm fine with it.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. It appears some of my future co-workers are staying near the base also, so I'll keep looking around the Bel Air area. Initially, I'll be in a hotel for 2-4 weeks prior to getting an apartment.
As for track days, I'm refering to something like a HPDE. I'm not too big on drag racing. I live my life 1.2 miles at a time...
Shooting ranges: I'll have to see who rents weapons. I'm not planning to bring anything with me, although if the opportunity to purchase should arise, I might just do that.

Thanks, will check it out.
I have a membership at freestate, good people prices are eh lol but the range is nice. There's also continental arms in timonium which is a nice range also. Horst in bel air sucks, real small have to use tmj or jhp if you want to bring your own ammo and their rental selection is practically nothing.
