Once you upgrade to HID's in the FRS, you will have brighter headlights that can handle most of the night driving you'll do. LED DRL's in the FRS are another story. They look great, and will still brighten up if you hit the high beam, but at that point, you're basically using them for "signalling" purposes only. The LED DRL's will not be brighter than your headlights as far as night driving functions. Now you are left with another, but more costly option, which is opening up your headlights and replacing the stock FRS projectors with Bixenon projectors, and you'll be left with a great highbeam option. I never recommend HID High beam/DRL's because it is very taxing on the ballasts when flashed constantly to signal other drivers. If you left them off, and only turned them on for extended night driving (almost like headlight use) they are fine to use, though. Please feel free to PM us and we'll answer more questions and set you up with a package!

I used the Morimoto retroquick kit from www.theretrofitsource.com. Its a Bi-xenon kit meaning high and low beam in one projector. Then I just bought LED DRLs from ijdmtoy.

Got my entire kit, including a kit that just showed up for 6000k Foglights and turn signals from Ken at HID_Powerhouse, @KI_ZN6 . His stuff is top notch and his service is outstanding! Highly recommend him for a total solution as I have all LED lights in my car now.

Getting LED's for the daytime running lights will still allow you to retain the high beam function (turning it on), but the output at night is a noticeable amount less than of the original bulbs. I wouldn't recommend getting LED's for the DRLs if you use high beams very often.

If you do a lot of city driving (street lights and other ambient lighting) like how I and most of our customers do, using HID's for the low beams should provide enough light to see.

Hi. I was considering going with LED DRL's. I dont use my high bean hardly at all so not really a problem. My question if anyone knows the answer is: Will my FR-S fail state inspection due to not having a high beam? I know its a couple of years away till inspection but good to know what the downsides might be.

i just used an HID kit from a vendor on here. and i have LED DRLs so its just for looks, no function. if u live in a city this setup is fine, if u live in the country i recommend keeping ur high beams. safety over looks
