yes but if u have a look at this section. threads like "will you pre-order it", "anyone consider an automatic", "0-60mph...." are fine here.

but stuff like "scion drops the ball", "FR-S everywhere", "buying advice - cash rebates & freebies" should belong to the regional pages.

Once we have more information on what is getting changed from region to region, the moderators will be able to break this sub-forum down into daughter-forums that more effectively group relevant topics. The structure at www.bimmerforums.com/forums is a really good example of the direction in which we need to move.
i agree and i guess eventually it will turn out this way.

SCION FR-S (w/ subforums for exhaust/performance/appearance)

Subaru BRZ (w/ subforums for exhaust/performance/appearance)

Then Offtopic/FS (even split this into "car" )
I think it's best to leave exhaust / performance / appearance forums as international. Parts will be mostly interchangeable, so there's no reason to differentiate. For sale can be under one umbrella as well, we just need to make it a forum requirement to tag each thread with the model car the part is for. It's not uncommon on international forums for parts to be sold between countries.

The situation we have is that as long as FR-S is in the title of this sub-forum (it actually comes before the Toyota 86 GT86 General Forum), this will be the logical place to discuss the Scion FR-S and everything that goes with it. Just think if somebody new visits the forum, goes to the FR-S section, and sees no discussions specific to the FR-S. They'll likely go somewhere else thinking this forum has nothing for them.

These are just growing pains. Once we go through our first restructure, things will be a lot better. There's actually just not enough information coming through here right now to justify it.

actually i think what we currently have is perfectly fine.

just a few threads on this general area should be moved to the regional area that's all.

I agree, they fit better in the regional forum. But then nobody would see them there

General Discussion Forum (all models)

and

Model Specific
-86
-GT-86
-FR-S

i think it's not necessary to have model specific at the beginning as they're all the same car.

i'm not saying all FRS discussion should go to the US area, but specific regional stuff should go there. eg. Scion supply and pricing info, dealers experience, the scion brand itself etc etc.

same also applies to the BRZ forum for threads like "SOA please..."

Actually, we don't even have a general US sub-forum. We have different regions of the US, but no collective US / North American forum to discuss NA Market specific topics.

There is no US area. There are 9 separate subforums for various areas of the country, but no single area for posts that relate to the entire nation as a whole.

Perhaps a better suggestion would be to ask Hachi to make such a subforum ( one that would contain the existing US regional subforums). That way, when someone posts a US specific topic in the General forum you can ask to have it moved.

Edit: I'm so slow. T_T

i think this would work with a sub-page for meets at different region/states.

but it may still ended up with all FRZ discussion being done there.

not as easy as i first thought.

I think it will sort itself out once people start taking delivery of cars. For the past few months we've been discussing these cars separately because of the differences in styling, options and more importantly the disparate rates at which the information on the different models has been released. Once we no longer have to worry about that stuff, the General forum should become more general, to the point that it will no longer make sense to divide the General forums at all.

This. Discussion about the cars is great, but when it comes to dealers/availability etc regional is best...

Wow, I expected a shitfight, but that didn't happen. Happily surprised!

To those suggesting I post in the AU forum, you're completely missing my point. I already post in there regularly, but I'm finding myself only really being interested in the topics in there, because there's just so much Scion based crap in the general forum.

My point was that there's so much commonality between the different flavours, why is the general forum littered with topics exclusive to one market?

Having said that and given the recent developments in information, I wouldn't even have a separate forum for the BRZ. There's a couple of cosmetic changes, that's it. Almost identical suspension, same engine, same gearboxes, same chassis. The only difference between all the different options is where you live. Even here in Australia we get the Toyota 86, and I bet it'll be different to the Japanese Toyota 86, and the European GT86. Like the differences between them and the FR-S, they'll only be very subtle changes.
