Anyone who is thinking of going with Visconti should be aware that he is not the most reliable at getting tunes out to you or dealing with requests. No doubt he is busy but I was disappointed with his customer service although his tune is fine.

I also have the tune from FA20 and it is as good, if not better than Visconti's in my experience so I would go with them. Their customer service is excellent and rarely will you go more than a few hours without a reply to emails. In John's case I waited for weeks on several occasions.

Just a heads up from someone with no vested interest in either tuner. :happy0180:

Thanks for sharing cuddefred. How's your fa20 tune going? Any issues with it so far?

JP interesting point u've raised, i think the answer you'd most likely get is "sorry we can't help u". That's the one big downside of ecutek tuning, unlike openecu tuning.....but i can live with that if the tune is good, and since my only mod would be a catback I won't be bothered with further fine tuning on dyno further down the track. Price is the reason why I'm steering clear of getting ecutek locally.

Hi Fizz, the FA20 has gone fine. I sent several logs to them and they kept fine tuning until they were happy and I am delighted with the end product. It feels like the torque dip is slightly less noticeable than the Visconti tune but there isn't much between them to be honest. The big difference has been customer service and they have been much better than Visconti in my case.

I've been dealing with John from Visconti tuning about my boost setup, he usually asks for a time to ring me and chat even though he is on the other side of the world, not too bad customer service imo

How come u had to send them multiple logs to fine tune it? Was the initial tune they sent not 'quite' right? And did they charge extra for all fine tuning?

Looking at their website now, says "Stg1 ref lash + license + cable" is $850. Is that what u got as well? It says if u buy the retail cable they will send updates....but what's the difference with the ecutek cable and the retail cable? Would both allow for data logging?

Each tuner will look at your logs and try to make amendments and improvements as each engine is slightly different. I was happy with the tune but FA20 thuoght they could make it better - and they did This was all done with no extra charge and the update the tunes every so often, again free of charge.

With Ecutek you need the tune, a licence for each car and a cable that you keep and can be used on multiple carrs if you wish. I'm not sure what you mean by 'retail cable' as you only get the Ecutek one, which is what you use to data log and also flash your vehicle.

I paid a total $350 for a Stage 1 tune + E85 tune as I had previously purchased a licence and cable from Visconti.

Hope this helps.

I'd never put a signal bender in a car that has a proper tuning solution available

My preference would still be a custom tune on the dyno with openecu tuning. Mail order has limitations.
USA have different emission standards and their fuel ratings are different also, so all their cars run a lower power rating from factory. I'm sure a good tuner could be able to run a tune to the standards of Australian fuel and emissions.

their fuel ratings are not different, their 91 and 93 is basically the equivalent of our 95 and 98.

So the fa20 guys, you purchase the tune, license and cable if needed. Flash the tune and drive around with a laptop connected and log data which they go over and make adjustments then send back an updated tune. Repeat until satisfied.

This sound about right?
