Thats a myth, the judge can and will amend the ticket right there on the spot. When you go to court, the officer can validate that it was you that was pulled over, enabling the judge to correct whatever is wrong on the ticket as he sees fit.
It is at the judges discretion, it is a gamble on the judge and the judges mood on that day.

Depends on your state law.
There will be a section in your state's vehicle code that describes the requirements for a citation. The name of the accused will definitely have to be there. I have seen citations dismissed on these grounds. Not unheard of at all. Just sloppy work. < 10+ year cop, but I do NOT do traffic. YMMV. Legal advice is worth what you pay for it, etc., etc... |
