here are the pics from the finished product of my second kit. NOTE: the downpipe and manifold were made by a fabricator.

It's cool seeing all the Cinci people building out kits for these cars.

So how much did the DIY versions cost in comparison? OP said a couple of thousand so are we talking turbos for our cars priced at 2500?

Doubtful. You have to be really talented or find some really killer deals to be at that cost.
Reality is are you really going to put some cobbled together DIY part on your car? I mean really? I have been doing this for a really long time and I have seen the "quality" of homemade or really really cheap fab guys. I wouldn't put that stuff on a nice 25-30k car. It would be embarrassing. So what you will end up having to do is buy kit parts from people like myself. Where we fabricate parts that can be bought as a complete kit or as hard parts only. Manifold or up pipe. Then down pipe and mid pipes and the rest you can piece together. This allows you to buy it one part at a time or a few at a time and eases the cost of what a turbo setup will be. There is no real way on these cars to get a quality kit with out having to pay a pro to build certain parts. At least not until china knocks off one of the current kits. On vw's or Hondas you can pick up 50 dollar cast manifolds. 150 intercooler kits. And be up and running in a few days. This car is not like that. There is no $50 manifold solution. No cheap intercooler kits yet. You will have to use parts that are built by hand in small quantities and that's going to be some what costly but you will still be able to find a deal if the right person starts building DIY parts.

so you are saying silverdub's build looks like crap?
I have seen of the pro built parts people pay money for. If you have the proper tools there is no reason you can't build all the plumbing for half price or better.
Sure you still need a turbo, bov, and fueling/ecu, but the guys selling the kits aren't building those either.

Wow really? Silverdubs car is nice and im not planning on mig Welding some garbage manifold together. I know a real deal fabricator /welder. Making intercooler piping after you have down pipe and manifold set is common sense and a lil problem solving. Im not picking a fight with you or saying my kit above is the best. Just trying to help or provide people with other options. From what i can tell you dont have any of your products available for the frs/brz or have a frs/brz yourself. So why do you care what i plan on helping people with?

That DIY kit looked great!

The flip side to this is some miscalculations, and (in the technical terms of F1 color commentator, Steve Machett)--KA-BLAMMO!!!

I've been waiting for someone to produce manifolds with smaller flanges for t25/t28 turbos so I could do exactly this.

Any time I've contacted the people putting out their kits now they're response is just "turn down the boost, hurr hurr."

Streetable power is where the fun is. 250whp is perfect for a car this size.

You are so correct. The very reason i started this thread was to provide people with other options and the fact no one would part out there kit to me so i could build my own. So here i go lol. Looking to start manifold building next weekend

there's a company out there P*** i'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention their name legally but they sell complete kits as well as all the components separately. Not sure if its a good business model but they are quite popular with s2000's. Maybe as time goes on more fabricators will follow. Anyways good luck with you build
