Sorry if this sounds like a really Dumb question but why would anyone want to run 15" wheels on a car that has 17" wheels on it from the factory in the US ?? I might understand 16" if its snow tires you are running but why bother with 15" even if they were free?

I'll try my best, still a wheel n00b.
Smaller wheels;
1. Lighter
2. More options per $
3. Noted above, shorten gearing
4. Free wheel, why not?

Edit: Bonus why lighter + shorten gears, think of this way, do 17" spin faster or 15" if on the same wheel spoke? The 15 would be, also less material = less weight...in theory (most of the time)

There would be more sidewall flexing on smaller rims due to thicker sidewalls.

car was totaled in a not-at-fault head-on collision with an x5.

damn that sucks. hope everyone walked away ok. was that guy on the wrong side of the parkway or something? I'm actually surprised how well these cars take impacts. So small and so light yet they seem to keep the people inside safe.

Bummer to hear about the crash, always sad to see.

I was hoping for a rally look to it.

Thanks,
Rick
