Anyway, the harbor area isn't too hard to shoot in as long as you go on the weekends. Weekdays it's busy as hell since there's 18-wheelers and other misc traffic everywhere, but it's pretty much EMPTY on weekends. You only need to watch out for harbor patrol and most of the time they're cool unless you're doing stupid things (donuts, burnouts, etc). This is only from my experience shooting on the LB side though. I've never ventured into the San Pedro Harbor/Port of LA.

Let me know if you need any other ideas! I've been shooting cars in SoCal for many, many years now.
Scott, wow. I just checked out your sig link. Amazing work. I just started getting into photography. I mean literally just started as in I read my first how-to on what is ISO last night I did this after I pulled out the good ole point-and-shoot while I was driving around keeping the batteries charged on the other car.

Here's my juvenile effort. My hand is shaky is hell. I need to invest in a tripod. If only my car could be as lucky to be part of your photos! Your shots are incredible.

Hey we all have to start somewhere! I started shooting 5-ish years ago with literally zero knowledge of photography or lighting. I just picked up a point and shoot and started playing with my friends cars when ever we got bored. Definitely get a tripod. The more you shoot, the better you'll get!

RYU - the graininess in the photos comes from high ISO. You can definitely get away with lower speeds if you use a tripod and allow the shutter to remain open longer. I love night-time long exposure shots. I did some photography in high school and junior college, but am only just getting back into it with digital (at least, trying to be serious about it). I really miss the adjustability of my old 35mm though.

LOL yeah... Definitely some of the most fun I've had with my car, but don't think I'd do it again. Every time I install something new on my car, I find more dust caked into some random nook

Scott, I know what you mean.

I once went "mudding" with my pickup. It was fun at the time and glad I did it but i'm still finding chunks of dried mud from the most random places. This was 3yrs ago and several snow storms later!

Make sure your NOS is disabled or else Johnny Tran is going to come by and blow up your car.
