so anyone made a successful installation of this? would be interested to see a DIY guide or if anyone could let us know how tough it was to install.

I don't see curbs as being an issue. If you can't avoid curbs, then, well...ya...you might not be that great of a driver. These would be very helpful with parking stops. I always back into spots. If I happen to accidentally back up too far, it will cause some serious damage to the exhaust canister and maybe even the lower bumper. For this reason, I always get out and check especially since I am still getting used to the physical size (or lack there of) of the car.
