Agreed. Not sure what he was talking about. Nobody was trying to order a 2014, and the dealers are not holding off because 2014's are coming out (which they are not yet).

I had no pre-order, but they really wanted my trade-in (2010 STi), so I'm sure that helped a lot. FYI this was Bob Baker Carlsbad.

Not sure if it was confirmed or not, but I suspect that's what he was referring to. In other words, everything queued up for factory production is either an existing order, or general production runs already being allocated to the dealers. In other words, no more custom factory orders, you just have to check every month to see what comes in to your dealer's allocation, or try to find one somewhere in the country that matches your desired options. That all said, should the dealer take a deposit and just let the OP know when a car is allocated to them that matches his request? That might be a good idea, but since it's not a definite order, I don't think the dealer would want to do that for a couple of reasons: 1) The customer is likely going to be doing this with other dealers as well, and will just demand his deposit back when the first dealer comes through, and 2) Why take a deposit for something you aren't guaranteed to deliver on? They may never get a car that matches the OP's requirements, which would just put them in a bad situation of taking money from a customer and not being able to deliver. |

One of the dealers who was "willing" to take a ($1000) deposit is also quoting $5000 above MSRP. If that's the case, I'll definitely just wait until next year for more supply to hit the market.

Yeah, I know several of the SD dealers were using that 5k markup. What a joke. If you wait for the 2014 cars, just make sure to put in a deposit early, as the dealers only have so many pre-orders they can take (from what I understand).

I would check autotrader or ebay for a dealer willing to ship. I haven't checked recently but when I was looking for a car there were several BRZs available.
