Very true point. It is extremely common i find myself just staring. Everyday.

Was never a fan of "pearly" colors until i realized how much it exaggerated all of the little sexy grooves

White is my favorite color for a car but my FR-S is firestorm because I really have a hang up about pearl white. I don't like it at all. I guess that's why they make vanilla and chocolate.

I am not sure on the pearl they use in it, but it probably has some red in the hue as opposed to blue like the Lexus cars have with the blizzard color. This is a very nice pearl color, but it has a satin feel to it. Almost hints of bronzing maybe?

Everything the others have said already. In sunlight the pearl shows beautifully. In artificial lighting the pearl goes to sleep and the paint seems more white and depending on the brightness of the light it can even seem off white at times. Great contrast and gives character to the paint.

Any direct light that hits the paint causes the pearl to be very evident and it looks superb.

(Caution: Big Photos)
At walkaround distance the pearl is very metallic.

Further away it becomes more of a lustrous sheen that flat whites don't have.

This color gives you the benefits of normal white in allowing you to see the car's shape easily, but unlike flat whites it allows light to play across the surface and contours and actually give you variance in the color. It is more interesting than flat white in bright light which has a tendency to blow out.

Though this color really does demand you keep the paint in good shape. Thank goodness I got to my car's paint before the dealer did, so they never managed to do anything to it other than peel the tape off. The Subaru dealer I originally ordered my BRZ from absolutely butchered the paint on their brand new BRZ's. When clean and swirl free it really is a great color.
