If you don't want to spend the money on a Homelink mirror, you can always just buy the OEM Homelink module for the car and install it yourself. That's what I did with my SUV. It was $65 bucks for the module and the installation was "plug-n-play", taking literally 20 seconds to install.

Biggest problem for me is that none of that stuff is compatible with my garage door opener. OLD craftsman (61LM remote). Those older models don't work with anything other than those giant ugly remotes.

Since I rent my place I'm not going to spend any money upgrading the opener. I tried to program the homelink (or whatever GM's name is) on a 2012 sierra but no luck.

Some of you have some pretty cool ideas though. Will keep in mind for when I have a place without an antique opener.

You just need one of these: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RYV05S/ref=wms_ohs_product"]Amazon.com: Genie GIRUD-1T Universal Dual Frequency Radio Conversion Kit: Home Improvement[/ame]

That's a modern rolling-code receiver and remote that you wire into the standard wall switch wiring on older openers. Then you can use modern Genie Intellicode openers, and all of the Homelink openers. Cheap and easy to install.
