the corolla is a pretty decent DD. it's comfortable for the price(not comparing it to mercedes and audis, etc.). that's why i want to keep it. plus the safety features would be better than the crappy beaters.

Keep that FRS rust-free as possible
thats what i was thinking, except the trading in a few years later thing.

wrx is perfect for snow since its a rally car... not a race car............ notice the rally in the sentence

You can get a WRX new for less than $25k if you know where to look. Oh wait, that is in the USA...my bad...

Buy FRS. Trade Corolla for older WRX. Win at life.

if you are going to look into a used market in an attempt for some summer fun, just get the oldest miata you can trust and use the rest to pay off your debt from your soon to be new home. its going to be decades before the frs can beat a used miata on the smile per dollar factor

Get what you can now cuz once the family starts growing, unless your income significantly increases, this expensive hobby takes a back seat.

If you are going to buy house, you will need a truck. Get BRZ/FRS for yourself and SUV for your girlfriend. That is what I did - BRZ for me and XTERRA for my wife.

Keep the corolla until all these technical issues with the FRS are worked out. But if you must get something new get the wrx due to your weather climate.

Get the WRX. I've got an FR-S, and love it... but I also live somewhere where snow is only a myth. The WRX is as much fun, faster in the dry, and usable year round (actually more fun in the winter, in my opinion).

They are doing a complete redesign of the WRX within the next 12 months or so, that may have a huge impact on your decision. If you're not buying today, just wait until you're ready - there could be 5 other cars new to the market that you didn't know to consider.

If buying today, and you don't mind poor fuel economy, I'd say WRX. Their ability in the rain and snow makes you love driving in poor conditions. (less fun in dry conditions, but not bad).
