2 or 1 car?

I currently have a 2010 corolla.
looking at 2 (maybe 3 options)
1.) keep corolla and get frs
2.) trade in corolla and get wrx
3.) drive corolla for a long time and save up for sti

mainly looking at options 1 and 2

live in Alberta so we get snow here.
just me and my gf, no kids, don't want any.
buying a house next year so I'm just planning this for the next year or 2. (3rd year frs). but as of now, what would you do?
thanks

Drive the FR-S in the snow, get snow tires.

Why did you need two cars again?

/thread.

Why don't you have an option of keep corolla and get a WRX? A WRX is less than 2k from a FR-S.

Do what makes you happy. Do you need this car for your gf or does she have her own car? If you don't need the car why not trade it in and get the FR-S?

Get the FR-S, it's the best car ever. Not the BRZ, the FR-S. Whiteout manual to be specific.
this is a very unbiased answer as you can tell.

gf doesn't need the car, she could just drive mine, but usually doesn't need to.
frs fun factor > wrx i'm assuming

also, there's no way the frs can go through a foot of snow here

In Canada , the base on an FR-S is $25,990. A base WRX starts at $32,495. That could be a factor.

wrx = fast, awd, good in show, nice looking

frs = fun to drive, VERY nice looking

civicdrivr 10-03-2012 10:09 PM

Hmmmm. This is a tough one. I have another car that Im actually getting ready to sell since the FR-S is a capable daily. But, my area doesnt get as much snow as Canada.

Why not sell the Corolla and get a really old pos for a grand or two?

LeeMaster 10-03-2012 10:10 PM

Best advice ever right here.

"Keep the corolla for a winter beater, and garage your FRS for winter. Get a WRX a few years later by trading in your Corolla".

Keep that FRS rust-free as possible

Ohh sorry, I didn't know the price difference was that much of a gap.

In that case I say just get the WRX and call it a day. To be honest, Subaru has done such a good job with the WRX that the STi isn't all that much better. Plus you can use it all year.
