I like how that one keeps the vent, too bad there's no Scoob-specific option.
PLX has a similar option: http://www.plxdevices.com/product_in...MULTDM100OBDII |

I hear that! It'd have to be one damn good HU to pull double-duty. My STi had a gimmicky gauge screen that would show MPG and TPS%. Looked cool, but ultimately useless. That, and the HU itself wasn't that great. Not that the BRZ's is really any better (I hate the on-screen buttons).

Seems like the panel above the glove box was designed for this. You can remove it very easily by pulling on it. Notice how the back is hollow with TONS of space (normally occupied by the airbag in most cars). Unfortunately, it's to the right a bit far out of view.
Best option is to get rid of the analog speedo like what Gruppe M did with the OEM NSX Volt meter (see below). They replaced it with a boost gauge. In real life though.. the gauge was so small and much too vague to be of any real use. Lower right use to be a volt gauge. Replaced by Gruppe M to a boost gauge.

Yeah, I'm just not crazy about the placement. Like I said, I'll probably go that route if nothing else presents itself. At least it's space for 3 and I'd get some fiberglassing practice.
If I've got time after Subiefest, I'll take some pics of the gauges in different spots of the dash.

I've been wondering how the passenger side airbag deploys. Been a while since I took that piece off, but I don't recall ther being my space for it. From what I remember, it's just dash plastic with access holes cut out or something like that.

Yeah, I was gonna say as well that the passenger trim piece is just begging for gauge mount options.
And it's not like you have to pay attention to them all the time. Do what I did with my Mustang. Set the gauges so that when the needle is pointing straight up, everything is fine. Quicker to read, and even though people might be like "lol your gauges are crooked," when you tell them the reason, they'll be like "oh, you're brilliant!" |
