True. I think that's a factor that would have to be taken into account regardless of whether the exhaust exits through the fenders or under the rear bumper.

Since this is a retarded amount of theoretical fabrication, anyways... Why not custom mill a trim plate out of aluminum that would surround the fender vent and not worry quite so much about the paint? The most at risk paint is that which is closest to the exhaust tip. Also, the exhaust tip would have to extend slightly beyond the fender to minimize paint damage.

I hope the production version doesn't have them. However, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it does. If they're chrome, they can be color matched to the body fairly easily, one would hope.

Won't buy any version that has fake vents.

I'll lose 100% respect for the car.

Either way it'll be a pain to detail.

the fender vent on ferrari's FF is used to vacate the pressure build up in the front wheel wells. ferrari also has small rear vents for the rear tires. so anyways, i remember there was talk about how the FT-86 I design was changed to the FT-86 II due to aerodynamics. the fender vents debuted on the FT-86 II, related? Hmmm...

notice how on the FT-86 II there are both front and rear fender vents? i dunno if the rear vents will make it to production, but the front vents are here to stay. they very well may be decoration only, BUT the fact that they are in the same general area as the functional ferrari FF vents AND that the FT-86 II design is aero improved makes me think it just may be functional....

Wait a minute, The camo covers the vents on the mules. But if they were real wouldn't the camo peal away or rip from the air pressure venting out?

that's a good point. but i dont think the pressures would be high enough to blow the tape off. on the concept there is that chrome M3 style bar on the vent. that means the vent is probably non-functional. however if the real car doesnt have the bar, then it very well may be functional. even if its functional, its just a small aero aid. it probably wont have a huge impact. look at the relative size of the FF's vent. that vent means business. the FT? not so much...

either way it looks cool, and it goes well with the styling so i like it...

okay, if we were to have the vents, what would they be used for? I mean, vents on a fender? I know for the MR2 one side goes to the air intake and the other to the intercooler and they are on the back.

they vent hot air from the engine/brakes. They have been around forever but only in the last decade became a "fashion statement" when buick started putting fake ones on their new car, then everyone started doing it. The MR2 vents face forward and scoop air into the intake/intercooler. These face backwards and vent hot air out of the engine compartment and front wheel well.

The camo had holes poked where the vents are

If you look at that spot in some of the other photos, it looks different in each. Sometimes it's blurred or blacked out. Other times the clear outline of what looks like the 86 badge can be seen.
