He's not actually buying a new one, just getting a replacement one.

Yeah it is a replacement vehicle and I will be on the waiting list the same as anyone in the USA/ Canada I believe. They are not giving me any special treatment or line bumps. I would imagine that if Australia could import/ drive American cars (I don't know the import laws), one of you could find an FRS here, and ship it faster than you would get it waiting on a 6-24 month order, but I really doubt that you would be able to do that legally.

Legally one cannot buy and ship a new car across the border to Canada but it is OK with a used car.

Not sure about Australia but I do imagine it would not be easy.

We did have a forum member who bought an FRS and shipped it to eastern Europe I believe. I could be wrong about the destination but he didn't want to wait for the gt86 to be released.

Right, everyone's import laws differ. Legally I think you can ship any car across borders, but getting it registered is another story. Cobb tuning shipped an R35 GTR to Utah when it first released, but it came with the condition that it would never be driven on the road (track use only).

Every country is different. Canada allows a lot more than the United States, so I wouldn't even know what the laws in Australia could be.

Just heard from my Toyota Rep. It is looking like the ETA for the vehicle is the end of October. I believe this is a soft ETA though, it is not a promise. Either way that is sounding good.

I ordered a BRZ in May. Last week I called SOA with my VON and they said "not before November." Are they shipping FRSes at a different rate than the BRZ? I would think they could vary production based on demand.

They are producing more FRS than BRZ. I dont know how production is determined though.
