Different mechanisms at play. Ducati is probably using a gyro to determine pitch and yaw and allowing some leeway as to what angle it will interfere. Similar to what RC cars are probably doing like with what he is talking about. As far as I am aware most cars are just using wheel speed sensors in conjunction with ABS to just control wheelspin or slip. There are far better TCS systems that are out there that can be left on and allow far more leeway and assistance without being as intrusive than the twins. But we all know how intrusive the TCS is on these cars, especially pre facelift.

What if OP goes and starts doing skid pad days and learns to drift, comes back and shows us up with some sick video. Would be a better love story then twilight.

Unacceptable. I demand that toyobaru implement the same level of electronic sophistication seen on a motorcycle that retails for the same dollar amount as our entire cars damnit!

All these "drift modes" are total bullshit and are usually present on a poorly setup AWD cars. A properly setup AWD car will drift if you want it to and will steer where you want it to. It doesn't need any "special" modes. Provided you know what you're doing. Having such bullshit modes on a RWD chassis is a nonsense.

I too usually enroll in courses meant to teach me something, while expecting the work to be done so I don't have to learn.

I just use the long press on the TCS. Drift mode activated.

Harder/narrower tires also help.

Heck, back in the day, we used to do that all the time, with less than 85 HP.

Just drive your car with bald tires down a gravel road -

About AWD cars? I'm talking about EVOs and STIs for example. They don't have special "drift buttons" and can go sideways on throttle without issues.
