edit: How long have you had the car? It really is the fussiest (non-industrial) transmission I've ever operated.
With the IRP shifter, that 5th gear upshift under hard driving is even worse. Took me part of a day to relearn that 4th-5th shift

I've seen videos of it. The throw is REALLY short.

Thanks for all the replies. I guess that's somewhat normal then and I shouldn't worry too much. Still, I will get the clutch checked just to be sure.

Not so much checked (and imho it's simpler to adjust yourself to your liking using simple tools), just that it's travel is adjustable, and sometimes might be off to one's preferences. (then again it's also possible to misadjust & run into issues, if eg. clutch never completely disengages and slightly drags). If/when you'll find thread of clutch pedal travel adjustment on these cars, suggest not to tune bite point right after initial start of travel, leave some 1-2cm dead travel till bite point just for any case. Then again, mentioned 1/4 dead travel till bitepoint seems slightly excessive/uncomfortable to me for quick gear changes. And while you mostly reported upshifts that you don't like (which is mostly about timing of gear switch and clutchwork for rpms to drop (speed of which might be affected by aftermarket lightweight flywheel) where needed), suggest learning throttle bliping for downshifts too.

Your shifting problem could be due to the gear oil in your trans. Redline MT90 gear oil makes the trans feel fantastic.

Big +1 for MT90.

Interesting. I've never had issues shifting in the high gears, they always seem the smoothest to me. I can have a pretty shit shift going into 5th or 6th and it still comes out pretty good. I've even tested out hard pulls and shifting into 5th feels effortless. I drove the car about 15K before switching to Motul. Felt a slight change once switched over but have forgotten since then, don't recall much change in the high gears.

EDIT: Honestly, for me it has just been the constant learning of mastering the MT in this particular vehicle, as with any other. Even after 3-4 years of ownership, I still find myself improving on shifting in this car. It excites me each time as I get smoother and quicker shifts while rowing through the gears.
