This is what drives me nuts with these features.

I haven't driven Subaru's version, but a similar system in the X5 is just as bad. On a test drive I went around a clover-leaf on ramp like I was drunk. The lane was narrow which meant even staying as close to the center of the lane as possible had the car bumping me side to side all the way around. I fought it constantly. It was really fun when I tried to avoid a pothole in the road and the lane keeping shoved my right into the middle of it.

The dealership salesman's comment was something like, "Yeah, it really sucks. We just tell people to shut if off. It keeps them from constantly coming back and trying to get the Service Deparment to fix it."

With their new touch screen infotainment/climate control setup you need eyesight to keep you on the road

I'll take any feature that you can readily/easily shut off or adjust. Now I wish the ASC in our cars was controllable, but it took me 10 seconds to unplug.

I'm actually surprised it got a top safety pick+ even for the automatic, I genuinely thought the crash prevention sections would've marked it down because the BRZ/GR86 uses the most basic Eyesight system. The rest of the testing though, its nice to see it perform extremely well when taking a hit, it definitely did better than the old car. I am curious how it will fare on the new side impact test, which was updated and harder since the speed was raised and the weight was increased to simulated SUV or pickup truck impact. Seems our car is the lightest of the ones that got IIHS's top awards.

Link to complete IIHS test..

Seems odd that they list it as a hatchback (since well, its not)??

But it got top ratings in all categories..

And despite being built on the same platform, made a number of improvements over the 1st gen, especially in the small overlap testing..

Also appears the Head Curtain Airbag is larger, and covers more completely the front section of the window..

It is still a small car, in what has increasingly become a big car world, but as safe as they get for the class it seems..
