basically, it has a relatively high mark for Collision safety, but due to no eyesight on MT, it got basically 0 mark on Preventive measure for Collision. so the overall mark is low.

Cue in the clickbaits claiming the car is a death trap...
I can understand the benefit of a single rating, but there's a huge difference between a car with low rating because of poor passive safety and some active safety tacked on to pass the bar vs. a car with good passive safety and no active safety equipment.
I think the public would be better served with two ratings - one for passive safety (crash protection) and one for active safety (crash prevention).

Good to know it can take a hit. I'd expect nothing less from Subaru.

They knew the car would get crucified on safety for not having standard active safety features due to the manual. And they made it anyway.

I have no issue with the rating. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can look past the score and read the reports (which is really worthwhile).
Given the state of driving ability where I live, I'm happy for the general public to be pushed towards lane keep assist, AEB, and radar cruise control.

Problem is a majority of people have 1 or less.
Case in point: The need for Crash prevention tech like lane assist.

NCAP results have been weighted like this for years at this point. The bad of the NCAP system however is their star system will not take into consideration cars that crash tested long before their new standards, so lets just say Subaru sold the old BRZ and the new one at the same time...the old one was tested in 2012 and was a 5 star rated car...it will keep its 5 star rating until the end of time. The new one however is tested with 2022's standards which are radically different, hence its 2 star rating. If you look at the actual crash testing performance, it did very good even with updated crash testing methods. However because the MT has basically zero automated driving aids, it massively fails that section of the test.

There lies the problem, someone who knows very little about the nuances between 2012's test and 2022's, doesn't actually look at the report itself and just looks at the star rating is going to conclude very wrongly that the new BRZ is much less safe than the old one. What a world of difference after all, 5/5 vs 2/5, one is perfect and the other a total fail.

After using Subaru's Eyesight in a loan car I'd pay money not to have it fitted

You can on other eyesight cars, so should be able to.

I never understood that reasoning. Although I don't have active safety systems on my BRZ (being a 2018 and a manual), I do have them on my 2019 Odyssey. I can't imagine a situation where spirted driving would cause any of the active safety systems to engage.

Subaru's system is very aggressive when it comes to lane keeping assist. it will bump you to the outside for coming within a few inches of the inside line of a corner.
