It's funny that he only talks about the looks. It's a damn remote control toy car! It does look great though, too bad it will not look like that when it is finally released.

He's keeping it more legit than most anyone else.

Half the 240 wagon has gone V-8....at least he still reps a Japanese L4. I would say his 'turd cutter' is a more "legit" drift car than some bastardized S13/14 with an LS1 in it.

You can't even call it a turd cutter...that car is seriously amazing.

BS. There are way more "bastardized" cars drifted by grassroots drifters, than any tc with a drivetrain conversion. At least those guys are in it for the sport, not the spirit of the engine and chassis combo. I think it is ingenious to engine swap, especially with one as cheap, reliable and powerful as an LSX. Why keep the POS engine in the 240sx anyway? These cars require way more HP that those powerplants were engineered in mind. So them swapping and making the car boring for you isn't legit? Speak for yourself. If that was the case none of the GT classes would be running butanol, diesel and all that jazz. When you show me at least one tc that isnt sponsored drifting, thats when Ill respect it as a legit drift car. Right now its a poser, trying to do something it was never designed to do.

I agree, but calling a car that takes 15-20 grand in drivetrain mods just to have the capability to drift "legit" is stepping over the line.

It don't make it a "Turd Cutter" just because it wasn't born with the power turning the rear wheels. The car is serious business for sure.

Agreed, the V8 band wagon is getting a little old.... I dont mind if a V8 wins, but I think it kind of takes the fun out of Formula D when every other car has a V8 in it.... D1GP can compete with our V8 cars. I think it is a lack of creativity not that the engines these cars come with cant compete with the V8's.

Also, look at Ueo and Yoshioka... their old AE86's could STILL compete with Formula D and they stuck with their 4ag's. Yoshioka beat up on the V8 guys at Vegas with his AE86 and won that round. Driver skill + set up is more important.

It is, it just was never supposed to drift. No doubt tCs are fast cars. But they're not "legit" at all, for a sport that requires a certain chassis configuration which the tC doesnt have factory.

You know what would've been cool? If they were the only ones in FD to drift FWD.

BTW, speaking of unorthodox drift cars, I came across a nice MR2 recently. I wonder how hard that would be to drift.

You should see D1SL restriction is a bitch!

Restrictions in the category are that:
  • The vehicle must retain the original chassis/body—only stock body constructed from a vehicle manufacturer is allowed.
    • No tube frame vehicles or tube frame chassis extensions are permissible unless part of the OEM structure
    • Space frame chassis are not permitted, additional triangulation and bracing of suspension turret/mounting points is allowed so long as the car vehicle contains its original monocoque chassis.
    • Vehicles must retain their original VIN in its OEM position as well as the OEM chassis plate where applicable -- VIN must not be altered, clearly visible and readable.
    • Convertible vehicles must have a hard top installed and a roll cage which will be effective in the event of a vehicle rolling onto its roof. The hard top must be securely fastened to the body.
    • The vehicles appearance must be similar to that of the original vehicle.
  • Slick Tires (S-Tires) were prohibited after the first season as they are not road legal, after Nobuteru Taniguchi used them to win the championship in 2001. The series now only permits commercially available road tires approved by the organization.
  • Catalytic converters must be installed to keep the vehicle to the maximum noise limit at race circuits.
  • Spoilers must stay within the width of the vehicle.
  • Brakes must be stock dimensions; no swaps from other models of same make are allowed.
  • Vehicles must retain OEM parts (ac/navigation/heater)
  • A functioning car audio system must be in place.
  • A 6 point roll cage with 4 point harness must be in place (same as that of D1GP).
  • Restriction of engine swaps from other model into other model, as S15 Silvia Spec-S to Spec-R specification (SR20DE→SR20DET) may be permitted but a RB26DETT into an HR32 Skyline GTS-t is not unless the model is a BNR32, nor even is converting an AE85 to AE86 is permitted. Engines from other manufacturer's car (e.g. Darren McNamara's SR20DET powered AE86) are not permitted as well. A bolt on turbocharger or supercharger is permitted, the engine in the car can be determined by the VIN plate
They're very strict... but again that's Street Legal, so maybe that's why

With one of the 4AGE cars is the one that went through like ten bottles of nitrous per run?

I actually meant to say 'which'? I don't follow pro drifting but I remember seeing a run with a Corolla riding the ass of a Viper the whole run and I was like 'ZOMGWTFBBQ!?' and the announcers said something that he empties a bottle or two of nitrous each run, and I was like 'nice...' heh.
