I worked in audio sector before, and I have some acknoledgment that can be applied to manifolds, too.
They act like organ's pipes, or sub woofers bass refles pipes. Longer and bigger pipes resonate at a lower frequency, I.E., choosing a resonating frequency of 50 Hz (that is 3000 rpm) for a specific box volume (the cylinder) needs specific diameter/lenght pipe that will resonate at that frequency (and will give more scavenging). To resonate at the same frequency, a smaller pipe will need a longer tube. A smaller and longer pipe will have more flow velocity; a too small pipe will on countrary offer too resistance to the flow. So, this has to be let to engineers, my question is do secondary pipes intervene in this? My hypotesis is that secondaries pipes are more important, as gas velocity will be lower than in primaries, so they have to be more efficient in scavenging. P.S.: gas temperatures in exhaust manifold are almost the same, around 850 Celsius degrees. |

The rpm`s vary, so different setups operate better at different rpm. Like the 2s pipe mentioned to voice "Pipe tuning" It has an rpm range and is engineered to suit, port/valve timing, capacity etc. It is also a whole pipe not just a set of Extractors.
P.S. I still think Gun powder,fire,chanting and a dance helps. |
