I'm the one that found the pics. I think I know what it is.

He did in fact change the tail lights. And all the other stuff.

they used to have LHD Honda of America badged Accords and Civic Coupes. There's so many LHD cars in Japan that they have parking lots and toll booths to accomodate LHD cars.

Ok I'll attempt to defend the guy a bit. It might be crazy to put Scion badges and lights on his Toyota 86 but he probably did it to be different and stand out. Would I do that? No.
