Why are the wheel air intakes shaped like an elongated sigma? Why such a pronounced loop? And why do the handles of those loops extend so far into the bumper? Is there any argument for function over form? I understand how having lines that are “too clean” can appear stale and lifeless. But I do not understand how the Japanese designers think that throwing on patches of black clutter improve the look. Perhaps if the black outlines were body colored it would seem less obtrusive.

You couldn't have just added this to the existing BRZ vs 86 thread? :p

It needs to be lowered a bit. I usually go +1 when upgrading wheels on my car. I wonder if 19s will be too much/too heavy. Maybe wider 18s will be enough.

Exterior renders were not far off. Interior ones were completely wrong, lol. Clearly whoever was doing the renders had seen the exterior but not the interior.

And just as well the real interior is different, I would have hated the speculative interior with it's silly tablet on the dash gimmick.

Not to mention the 86 ones are still just best guess renders and are not even accurate on the known common parts.
The interior with the tan is something somebody came up with about a years ago and should not be used as the new 86 interior.

Agreed on the lowering.

IMO the twins don't need a huge diameter wheel, what they need (as a classic, low sports car) is a nice deep dish wheel with some lip and depth (e.g. a classic JDM TE37 style rim). Combined with a nice meaty tyre, I think that looks sportier and more 'racecar' than larger but flatter rims with less depth. I think you really only need really large diameter rims when you have a larger and taller car. Classic 5 or 6 spoke 17s or 18s with some lip and depth, and some really wide tyres, will look mint.
