But it's common myth many believe in that drilled rotors are "sporty performance" and thus "cool", so many may buy such if nothing else but for looks. Yes, heated modern pads don't dissipate lot of gas that needs to be guided off, but myth lives strong.
Same as with overstretched tires. Reason for doing that, to stiffen up floppy cheap street tires, is gone, with good selection of performance tires of right size and of stiffer sidewalls available for reasonable price, but people keep doing because it associates with that past low-budget drifting scene's "coolness" from several decades ago.

i hadn't heard that reasoning before. seems most people stretch tires because it's the man's version of high heels. every girl wears them, every girl complains about them, but they all wear them for the attention and to show off even though none of them seem to really like them.
