Interesting tidbit... the 8K redline GSR tachometer font and layout was commonly used as a template on games and onboard dash tachs.

speaking of stolen cars.. upon the FR-S's first year's release I'm willing to bet that it will be up there on those charts... maybe not number one but prolly in the top 15

The K24(Z7) was a logical choice for the Si, but I still don't agree with it.

Unfortunately they couldn't throw the K23A1 from the Acura RDX in the new Si. I took a look at that engine and it's very tall and the intercooler on top doesn't help it's case! Not to mention that Honda would have to design a 6 speed manual for it.

I've always heard people say that Honda was a sporty and more daring than Toyota, however this is right out of Toyota's book: See chapter 2007; Replacing the 2ZZ-GE 1.8L in the XRS models with the 2AZ-FE 2.4L . If you think I and other 2ZZ lovers are bad, then imagine the die hard VTEC/i-VTEC lovers.

Now granted the 2AZ responds well to modifications (forced induction) as Dragon will surely attest. Out of the box and for simple bolt-ons I would rather a 2ZZ. That being said Honda tuners might have a little bit of a problem with the K24. I've heard something about the exhaust manifold being cast into the K24 block or some garbage along those lines, if any Hondafile can clarify?

It will sell, but the new Si has certainly lost appeal in my eyes.

With a immobilizer factory installed I doubt it, unless people are stupid enough to leave the keys in it. Apart from the 10th place 2009 Corolla (WTF?) all of those cars predate factory immobilizers, and are relatively easy to break into and steal with basic tools.

yes, the K24 has the most ridiculous head/exhaust design i've ever seen. here's basically what it looks like:

Just depressing... "I'm going to bolt on sweet 4-1 headers on my Si!!!" Um... no your not.

I don't hate the K24, but it seems like a real afterthought to just toss it in the Si without some in house Honda tuning. IMO I would have accepted 220bhp with 7500red and no integrated exhaust.

I wonder if they are still "frankensteining" the newer Honda engines? I remember before it was the B20 block from the CR-V on a B16 head. I think they might be doing something similar on the K series engines.

Didn't Honda actually completely kill the Civic in Japan?

As I sometimes pass by the Hondatec forums, I believe they are still at it. And now that the B-Series is being relegated as a throwaway engine even more so.

I think not. In fact they make a 3 door "city" version if I'm not mistaken.

Good point! In my limited search it has been done mostly on the K24A4 block (US Accord 4-banger), over 10.0:1 CR with TSX rods and pistons, with either K20A2 or K20Z3 heads and manifolds. Looks like they're putting 230-240whp on stock components alone.

However I didn't see any K20 head swaps on the 200bhp K24A2 or K24Z4 (the Acura TSX engines).

The Civic hasn't been on my radar for a few years now. It's really sad that this is the best they can do with a new gen. At this point I'd rather have a turbo Sonic.

Isn't that the Honda City? A bit smaller than a Civic.

It's just a shortened Civic, IMHO, I should have just said Honda City. Although that article says the "Civic sedan" it suggests that the entire Civic lineup is getting canned in Japan, which is it?
