Finding a lawyer in your area that specializes in moving violations is the safest/most reliable option. Not cheap, but cheaper than paying higher insurance premiums for the next 3 years.

I'm sure plenty of cases/tickets do get dismissed but personally I would never bank on it...play with fire and you get burnt sometimes, that's all
I don't know about that. Since I have to pay the fine before the court session there is nothing to loose by fighting it. Worse case scenario I don't get my money back and attend traffic school. In Ca at least in the past traffic court visits I've seen all cases with the officer failing to appear award favor to the defendant. Although it was rare to see the officer not present. This was years ago though so we'll see.

My first strategy was during the stop, try and be as least memorable as possible don't chat or anying just say sorry sir and accept the ticket which I did. Next I will postpone my court date as long as I possibly can in hopes the officer forgets or looses his paper work and cannot recall the ticket. Then show up to court, and depending on the judge and how their acting and mood I will either state my case that I was not speeding or say nothing. That's the best strategy I have, any other suggestions folks may have are welcome.

I understand my strategy likely won't work but any chance to save $280-$300 and save my once in 2 years traffic school use is worth it. Plus an excuse to take the day off from work.

All my speeding tickets were bullshit waste of time/end of month ones where I was just going with the flow of traffic and cherry picked out of the group, so I am highly biased on speeding tickets.
When I was really speeding, never a ticket but those 3 were like a 56 in a 45, 70 in a 65, and other was not much over but cant remember posted or what I was going. All going steady with the traffic flow.
I fixed all the garbage with buying a radar detector. Since that purchase, no tickets in about 12 years afterwards. I highly recommend getting one so you know when
they are around. I'm not saying to run around speeding everywhere but it is nice to know you have a 95% chance of not getting one of their end of month specials because you'll know
where they are way before they see you.
As far as the current ticket, I'd go to court, see if the cop shows, and if he does then take the advice given in here so far. If you win and pay nothing, take that $237 and add a little more and get yourself
the best detector you can afford. I would look into an Escort as they are always top rated. I'm driving with a 12 year old PASSPORT 8500 X50 and as I said, no tickets in 12 years.

I'd suggest you just pay the ticket ...... then don't speed anymore ......

That brings to mind a back-in-the-day story about a speeding ticket I got in Los Banos.

It was a bright Monday morning and I had just come off the Pacheco Pass and was running hot in my company Ford Grand Torino on 152/33 heading into Los Banos.

That was before I-5 was completed and 33 was a straight shot through Los Banos to get to 99. Yep, I WAS cooking through the cow town of Los Banos when THE Los Banos policeman came out of nowhere and pulled me over for speeding.

WELL, since he didn't have radar, he said he "clocked" me.

OK, I figured it was my clock against his so, since he couldn't hardly speak English and had an attitude, I decided to see him in court. About 10 days later, I appeared in front of a Los Banos judge with the last name of Gonzalez.

So what, the policeman's last name on the ticket was Gonzales ....... half the people in Los Banos were named Gonzalez ....... and most of them were inbred (as I found out later).

After I explained that the insensitive, stupid, dumb shit, rude, half wit policeman treated me disrespectfully ........ the JUDGE explained to me that his NEPHEW was a good kid and worked hard at being a good policeman ........

I was dead ....... I paid the clerk the fine, in cash, and crept slowly out of town ....... being thankful he didn't put me in the Los Banos jail.

THE END

Hence, my philosophy ....... keep my mouth shut and pay the ticked .....

Cops in San Rafael Novato Petaluma area are total a holes and are known for chickenshit tickets to make up for them being lazy all month. I almost never see cops until the end of each month.
So, let me get this right - you admit to speeding - you admit to driving without a front license plate.....and the COPS are "total a holes" and are known for chickenshit tickets, and also being lazy.

Quite frankly, sir, I think YOU are the chickenshit a hole.

Stop speeding, put the license plate on your front bumper, and pay the ticket. Grow up and be a man. That's my advice. I'll wait for everyone to tell me I'm wrong.

^^You're wrong lol

I'm having a hard time getting my head wrapped around 13 over nevermind 8 over...

13 over is 21kph over the speed limit AKA squat, unless you're in a school zone. Here, if you're doing 20kph over the limit you're keeping up with traffic!

Where did this take place?

You sir are wrong.

How am I a chicken shit a hole?

I was barely speeding, and I dislike front licence plates so I don't use em. So that makes me an A hole? I will pay my fine but not after I fight it.

Are you a cop? Is that why your so defensive?

Wah wah wah, I broke the law and am now crying about being caught.

Man up, pay the fine. If you don't like it, don't speed.

From personal experience, it's weird how I've only ever gotten tickets while doing something wrong while operating a motor vehicle

Quotas aren't a thing, by the way

Paying the ticket is dumb because you get points on your license which means your insurance premium goes up for several years.

Most speeding tickets are bullshit anyway. Last ticket I got was driving through the middle of nowhere. Car behind me starts getting too close so I speed up slightly to open a safe distance between us. Turns out it's a cop and he lights me up and I pull over and receive a ticket (after what was basically entrapment).

I search car forums and find a reputable traffic attorney who services that county. It was a few hundred dollars, but the ticket goes away, no points or increased insurance, and I didn't even have to show up at court.

Fortunately we have the internet to tell us the truth of the matter:
Quote:
Unfortunately, outlawing traffic ticket quotas has not deterred some police departments from still imposing quotas under a different name. Some departments use the name “station average” to keep track of traffic tickets given out by police officers, causing a lot of issues.

California banned ticket quotas over 10 years ago, but some police departments decided they were above the law and are now being sued by some of their own officers. These departments used quotas to evaluate the performance of police officers and because of it LA must pay $8 million dollars to its own police officers. There are still additional pending cases against other police departments that have continues to break this particular law.

Even Florida has banned ticket quotas, but only for state law enforcement agencies. This ban is enforced, especially after the Florida Highway Patrol was accused of firing a police officer in 2009 because he didn’t give out enough traffic tickets. In addition, police departments in New York and Pennsylvania have also come under fire for using quotas even though it was against the law.
Also an article on quotas and how they still exist although they aren't supposed to any more: https://www.npr.org/2015/04/04/39506...licing-lingers

And furthermore...
Quote:
Man up, pay the fine.
Paying fines doesn't make you a man, if anything paying a fine is submissive and shows you are weak. Then they target you even further since they know you are an easy mark to squeeze some cash out of. You go to walk right into the court room when your day comes and jump up onto the bench, squat and take a big dump up there to show them who's boss.

It sounds as if the officer is giving you a break. The front plate fine is almost as much as your speeding ticket. Even though they didn't radar you, all they have to say is you were following so close they couldn't see you when they busted the sedan in front of you. Probably not going to go over really well.

Hello reni ........ allow me to add some more details to my story, for clarification.

"Back-in-the-day" was in 1969 ...... many years before the point system was implemented in the US.

Besides, I was driving a company car ...... the company paid for the insurance.

In addition, I seriously doubt you have ever driven through Los Banos, CA., especially back in the 60s.

You have heard of the old "speed traps" in the South .. ?? Well, welcome to the old type southern "speed trap", in the dusty central valley of California.

Lastly, here is a picture of their jail ....... and the best restaurant in town.

Anyone wanna hear a story about a neighbor lady, an irrigation pump at a duck club, a motel in Los Banos and the Woolgrowers restaurant .......??

I'd better check, @Tcoat ....... have I told that one before ..... ??
