agreed, theoretically they can charge you %5 of the purchase price, not just your deposit (is the standard Toyota contract I believe) but I can't imagine that coming into play with what the waiting lists are like for a GTS MT

Yeah I'm thinking there won't be an issue and if needs be I'd rely on the no spare wheel card.

They'll be able to sell it in a heartbeat, the dealer probably won't charge you anything.

OK so to say I had a bit of drama with this is an understatement.

I rang my sales guy at 8.30am (opening time) and he was already with a customer but left a message for him to ring back.

By 9.15am he still hadn't contacted, so tried him again, again got the brush off that he was busy, so spoke with another salesman, explained my situation and he said he would get my salesguy to ring me back.

10am still no contact, now I realise that Saturday morning might be a busy day but still, I would have thought that in 1.5 hours he could have rung me back. Rang again and again got the "He's busy" brush off and that no one else could help me.

Waited again until 10.30am and called again and this time insisted on speaking with the Sales Manager. Explained that I wanted to back out of the contract as I had located another vehicle. The sales manager initially balked at letting me out of the contract, until I then explained that I knew about the specs changing (i.e. no spare wheel). He then said he would ring me back within the hour. He rang back after about 45 minutes and agreed that due to spec change and that I had located another car that I could walk out of the contract and get my money back.

I was thinking by this time that there was a good chance that my 'find' would already have been well and truly sold off.

I then contacted my other salesman, who was on a day off and he went in to the garage for me, confirmed that the car was still available and got the contracts drawn up, took my deposit and emailed the contract to me.

So it looks like I'll have a Sonic Blue GTS AT by the end of August.
