It's not so much the drops, it's getting comfortable with the feeling of adding more power to stabilize the rear of the car after the apex. Most rwd cars stay loose all the way to exit unless you're WOT well before (super high HP will be different).

I noticed that on the simulator, gotta plant power down to settle the car.

It's actually like a bigger nastier version of turn 7 on DDT (with two kinks). Nobody has told me to plant power down to settle it but I found out through a little bit of experimentation and seemingly stupid bravery.

Well the ruleset for OTA is only 100x better than CSCS, so I'd say do it

Don't worry, I'll do it for you....

CSCS' ruleset is an absolute joke for time attack. There is way too much of a divide within each class, and it borders on "pay to win" like its a mobile phone game with in-app purchases. It is more about the popularity and showing off of cars rather than anything else.

Quoted for truth.

On one hand, some folks will argue to me that I just can't afford to "get in the game" on the other hand, my counter is that I have yet to maximize my car.

In their defence, it is also the reason why they attract so many folks to their events which means great publicity. On the other hand, its not necessarily the publicity I want either which is why I like OTA's formal approach (pros and cons).

I've had opportunities to actually go up against some CSCS folks at other events and have nipped at their heels in a STOCK version of their car.

That being said, there's folks at CSCS that are genuinely fast drivers and my hats go off to them.

I should be able to attend just over half of the OTA events this year. Would love to see how I stack up against the rest of the competition. Am very rusty though since I wasn't allowed to get on the track much last year with the exception of other school events.

Can't wait!

Time attack globally is a pretty extreme sport, there's very few series that get you involved with minimal cost. OTA and the SCCA solo are two off the top of my head. WTAC, GTA, etc all get pretty wild.

OTA iPAX scoring is designed to take the car out of the equation and make it a drivers challenge. Other series make it more of a combination of builder and driver.

True and that's why I'm excited to join!

Did you put a roll bar in your car?

Is the school beginner friendly?

I've done a couple of open lapping events at Cayuga, but some tuition would be great!

About to, once the salt and snow clears, it's going in. The bar is just sitting at Dave's Garage in Oakville waiting for me.

Weather permitting, it might be going in the same time I'm attending the open house on the 1st!

The DDT school is VERY beginner friendly. There's typically three run groups ranging from "never seen a track" up to "seasoned competitor, want a refresher and tips". The GP track school is better if you've at least done a previous school or some lapping days.

All you need is a safe car and desire to learn!

I believe it's $350 at the Open House on April 1st (at JRP's Mississauga store) or $380 after the Open House.

It's extremely good value given what you're getting (Grand Prix track, full instruction, etc.).
