I have this similar issue with the clutch/flywheel. When the car is cold, everything is prefect, but after a long drive over 30mins the take-off will get really jerky and shaky. Once the car is moving there is no issue.

Same exact issue as me. How many miles do you have on the clutch?

About 6000 miles. Mostly track miles and travel between tracks. Did about 600 stop and go traffic to break it in, don't remember it having the take-off issue early on.

Hmm. Yeah I'm only at 600 miles. I'm hoping with more miles it gets better. But until then, I'll go though the motions and slow it down.

Maybe it's the new grabbing point and me not being use to it.

Please note that these clutches grab harder with heat. It's part of the "sport" nature in them especially when you're running hard on the track. You want that level of consistency while shifting. Again, please take the time to relearn the vehicle. Deliberate actions lead to deliberate results and the final product is smoother and much more efficient driving techniques. Happy driving folks.

Could you suggest a clutch with higher clamping loads what would offer close to the same feel as stock (of course given the heavier feel).

This was my experience with mine

The marginal increase in pedal pressure and improved response with the ACT kits are fine with us. The factory clutch kit is actually quite good. Improving one's driving habits and skills improves the life of the clutch significantly.

I've seen many people complain about this. Work on smoothing out your technique, and change your window of overlap and throttle, and you can get a perfect start, every time.

If you make it a conscious effort to improve your technique, you will be able to drive this harder-grabbing clutch in stop and go traffic without issue.

If I can drive the heavier, grabbier XT version without issue in stop and go, so can you

Remember, the clutch will seem hypersensitive relative to stock.

I've had very little. Not much at all honestly. But I've only had it on for 600 miles

Awesome! thank you! It would be nice if my comp stage3's pressure plate would release property haha

i can deal with the engagement no problem, its the fact that i get locked out of certain gears when fully clutched in. or when im in first gear no gas and clutched in, my rpms drop and car rolls. Kill me.

Well, I will chime back in once i have had a chance to drive mine. But i still can't believe this is going to be more difficult than my old twin disc Exedy. It chattered (doesnt bother me) all the time, and it was like a razor sharp on/off switch. No room for error.

I thought my left foot work was good, but that clutch made me slow down, and my left foot became almost surgical while driving with that clutch.

The HDSS is much easier than that Exedy.

The HDSS in my S2000 (a much older and MUCH higher clamping force) clutch in my s2k, paired with a prolite flywheel, requires more precision than the XTSS in the CSG BRZ, or the XTSS in my friend's WRX.

In fact, the XTSS engagement from current designs has a heavier pedal but smoother engagement than the (very old) HDSS in my s2000.

Surgical precision...
