You gain some with an intake and you lose a little sucking warm air. Overall you gain even if just a little. Being Quebec I think you'll be fine since it's cold there anyway. It really does change the sound of the car- from the extra sound up front to the change in tone of the exhaust.

Berk dual exit muffler delete is very easy to install, perfect fit, looks awesome and sounds mean. I have a Cherry Bomb glass pack installed at the tail end of my midpipe also which really helps with drone and adds a unique sound to the exhaust.

This clip is the Berk, cherry bomb, weapon r and otherwise stock- no tune, all cats intact.

My setup has changed since then, but I think for a largely stock set up it sounded great. If you want even louder and it's free and easy to do - gut the cat in your mid pipe. That really frees up some noise.

My experience with a louder FR-S (muffler delete) didn't really add to the experience for me. With the louder exhaust, there was less feedback from partial throttle input, felt laggy or vague. It was all just WOOMMMWOOWMMMMM instead of the tight feedback I get with my completely stock exhaust, Just wanted to say that. When my friend drove it and got on it it sounded excellent though, but driving it was another story. I feel like Toyota/Subaru knew what they were doing when they designed the stock exhaust.

After 70k miles and having the exhaust dismantled once for a clutch install, and having a few parts start to rust, my exhaust has definitely gotten a little louder, less timid sounding.

Hahahaha, it's cold only half the year ! But I think that your intake looks real mean and makes a great sound, definetly will be looking for some open air intake.
The muffler delete doesn't cut it for me. I don't know being in quebec, I got a friend with a muffler delete genesis turbo and he gets some bad attention. I think that borla exhaust is a bit more quiet and gives me something to say over my muffler is now a 2.5 inch pipe.
I'll ask around try to see if it ain't too crazy.

OK, yeah- the Berk muffler delete is very loud (I thought you wanted loud?) There are definitely more subtle options

If you want loud but more controlled, go for something along the lines of an Invidia N1. Doesn't have to be that one but use that as a reference. You want something that has a straight through muffler and maybe a resonator. Youtube is always a descent way to get an idea of what a muffler will sound like. There is also the Tomei 60S, HKS Hi- Power (single), and one of the Greddy's. Look for db ratings as you are researching.

Also keep in mind drone. A resonator will help with it but if its to big of a resonator it will cut down on overall volume too.

Anothing thing you can try is to just drop your muffler. For a few weeks it won't hurt anything but it'll give you an idea of how a track pipe will sound. Track pipes are cheap and easy to install too. The only problem is then you have an empty exhaust hole.

You say that, but...

We have seen some guys melt bumpers off though using, literally, a muffler delete (removing the muffler without a replacement to guide the exhaust gas) and with broken mufflers...
