Also, I do that very thing. Give the car to the wife and I take the SOUL let my knee rest. 20K you are gona maybe break even or may end up owing, but doubtful

Yeah, thinking about a paddle shift too. We'll see.

Yeah, I've talked about it with the VA and they said the process, like any other doctor, is physical therapy for a few months, then injections for awhile, then if those two don't help, they start looking into the replacement. So maybe a year long process at this point? I couldn't do that to my wife, me taking the van and leaving her with the FRS to try and ferry the kids around.

I don't sit all day at all. I actually do quite a bit of walking. The campus at my school is ridiculously spread out. Also work out a few times a week. Funny thing is I can do that row machine for 20-30mins for cardio and it doesn't bother my knee at all. Just stairs and the motion you use for pushing the clutch. Also the same for my riding mower, pushing the clutch to get it started is a no-go. Have to use my other leg.

Thanks for all the advice/suggestions all.

Isn't rowing the same motion? Or do you keep your legs stationary?

As someone who is on their feet all day and also suffers from knee/leg complications both as a result and naturally, I can absolutely feel your pain, literally.

I drive an MT and on long drives I really feel it. Luckily my drives too and from work are about 5 minutes. But my occupation literally requires me to be on my feet running around all day for 50+ hours a week, high stress, heavy lifting, etc etc.

Driving the car sometimes feels like torture on my legs but I do it anyways. Because I know one day in the near future it'll be even more difficult to drive.

Hope the best for you given the circumstances.

All the best, hopefully you can recover soon, have you consider doing AT instead you can always go that route as well.

I hope your knees stabilize.

As mentioned, you may seriously consider the trade for an AT option.
