Selling 2013 FRS, question

Hey folks, i'm almost sick at my stomach just thinking about this, but I'm going to have to sell my FRS. I only bought it a year ago. It's white, 44k miles, touch screen, clear 3m bra, never tracked, really good condition.

I had planned on keeping this till it died. However, back in 2008 i blew out both my knees in an accident, and it's now catching up to me. I had been told since the accident to expect arthritis to set in within a few years due to how bad the injuries were. Well now the arthritis is now considered at the 'severe' level and while walking on a flat surface is fine, anything sloped just kills.

Now the sad part, for the past 4 or 5 months, I've notice my knee hurting a little just pushing my clutch. It wasn't frequent at first, but now it's every time I drive the car. It's a stock clutch so not stiff at all, just that motion is really painful now. Its come to the point where I'm leaving my car with the wife and driving our van. I hadn't driven in in about 2 weeks hoping that would work and help my knee rest or something, but after driving down the street tonight, I see it isn't going to work.

Anyways, all that to say, realistically, any ideas what I might be able to get for it? I know without seeing it in person you can't really give an accurate suggestion, but just a ball park? I owe just a little above 20k on it. Hoping to get as close as I can to that, but either way, I can't drive it, and my wife can't get all our kids in it so it has to go. :(

Tuff break, but I can feel you on the clutch. Every once and a while, that clutch gnaws at my knee, especially if traffic sits still which it does 80% of the time. I have decided that my next car will be some kind of paddle shift but it will dump a lot of power, because something has to make up for the loss of the manual

Also, I do that very thing. Give the car to the wife and I take the SOUL let my knee rest. 20K you are gona maybe break even or may end up owing, but doubtful

KBB

Realistically... you're probably around high 16 -mid 17K value. Its a 2013 FRS (which people associate with issues and monospec) and you're almost at 50K.

There are people selling 2014s from 18-20 with 25K on them. Unfortunately these vehicles drop in value pretty quickly.

Sucks to hear about your story :(

have you tried wearing rocktape on/around your knee and maybe a knee brace before fully deciding on selling the car?

I feel your pain with the knees.

GLWS.

I sometimes see posts from automatic owners who want to trade for a manual. Maybe you can swap? Would solve your clutch/knee issue and save you money on trading-in.

this ^ the manual had a slightly higher demand than the AT. I think maybe you could trade yours in for an AT and it'll help the pain in your knee by no longer pressing the clutch.

Knee replacements? The synthetic joints have gotten really good. Keep your car and not have to go out of your way to avoid the stairs.

Sorry to hear about your injury. Here's my experience with the value of these cars.
My 2014, base, manual got totaled last month.. 26k miles, near mint condition. I was happy with the payout from my insurance company of $19,500. The payout aligned closely with KBB private party sale value and NADA retail sale value. These cars hold their value quite well, considering I paid $24,500 two years ago brand new. I only owed 15 on it, so came out with over 4gs cash.
Sorry to say this, but prepare for disappointment if you owe $20k on a 2013 model.
One thing to keep in mind is that trade in values are extremely variable depending on how much a dealer wants to move a car off a lot. I have a friend who got $3400 for a 98 civic with 280k miles on it recently. That car wouldn't have fetched $1k in a private party sale, but the dealer really wanted his business. Shop around, good luck.

Trade for a MT also you could try taking chrondroitin(chrondrontin?), msm, and some other vitamin/mineral top help the arthritis. Try to keep your knees moving. If you stay off them all the time it's only going to get worse. Not saying you have to drive a clutch, just don't sit in a chair 24hrs a day
