THAT is what you took away from this shoddy video, the comparison to the corvette!?!?!? LOL. Corvettes state they require premium fuel as well. 10:1 is still fairly high compression ratio. I think the overall takeaway is unless your car states it needs premium you don't have to use premium. Like most commuter cars do not need it and it provides no benefits.... that's the takeaway. |

If it says reccomended for maximum performance it would indicate day to day driving wouldn't make a difference unless your throttle usage is all or nothing lol. |

That is not the case with octane ratings. People think that higher octane gas is in some way superior to the lower rated ones. They are all exactly the same quality. The octane number just means it has higher knock resistance. It does not burn "better", "cleaner", more "efficiently" or any other of the misconceptions out there. There is zero advantage to running high octane fuel in a car that does not require it. Inversely it is a really bad idea to run low octane in a car that does require it!

Which is why that video is irrelevant to our cars. It's difficult to understand why this conversation keeps coming up. The best thing to do is to ignore the conspiracy freaks who think they're getting one over on the military industrial complex by using the wrong gas in their cars. They're already so far out in left field that no rational argument is going to sway them.

My fathers car takes regular fuel but he would put 93 because its cleaner. He started having engine problems. Turns out the engine runs better on regular.
