Really impressive/ballsy driving. I'm surprised they let spectators stand so close to the road though.

I'm glad that Subaru fully prepped the car this time. In 2014 they claimed the only engine mods were straight pipes and a removal of the speed limiter. Meanwhile, interior shots of the run showed the factory boost gauge pegged at 25 psi for most of the run.

The Isle of Man TT takes an average of 2 lives a year when they run it. So at the very least they know one person will die each year. With 0 run off anywhere for a motorcycle I dont think they care if u dang near stand in the middle of the track. they know somebody gonna die. Also not like you can make people evacuate their houses for a legal "street racing" event.

Sorry I don't follow the logic. So because an average of 2 people die/year, they say to hell with bystander safety? Aren't the deaths the exact reason to focus on safety?

I think the majority of it has to do with the history of the Isle of Man itself. Its a good back story if u want a decent read thats not too long. My point was why even bother with bystander safety when you condone such an insane event.

"More than 200 motorbike racers have died here in the festival's 98-year history, a toll which reflects the fact that racing on the Isle of Man takes place not on a track, but on the undulating, bendy, dry-stone walled roads normally driven over by residents with justifiable care."

Oh I see what you're getting at. I guess I separate out rider safety (agree they're insane but at least they're paid/sponsored and understand the risk) from bystander safety (may not know the risk or what parts of the track are likely runoff/crash areas). I'll definitely look into the history of IOM though - sounds interesting!

Lol acutallyyyyyyyy a good bit of the guys don't even run the road circuit over that run the Isle of Man. Man of them are every day workers. Im sure alot of that will be in whatever u read. Many pay for the entire IOM TT week long event. Guy martin ran for a while before he got sponsorships I believe. On the of the big sponsors once said in a documentary it cost the like 100k-150k to run it once a year.
