I was more thinking when I need to drive a SUV for family etc. I still want the ability to have many manual options to choose from

The problem is that often times, the manual transmission they put in non-sporty models tend to be lousy... So sometimes you might just be better off with an auto....

Yuppa. My DD (before it was rear-ended and totaled leading to my purchasing the FRS) was a 2011, 3-door Yaris with MT. Loved it. Didn't "perform" worth crap but I didn't mind because it was MT which made it fun to drive anyway. I miss that car; I would have bought another but they updated it in 2012 and got rid of the center-mounted gauges and great cupholders (another reason I loved that car)...

Yuppa. I bought my mom's old Honda Accord so that we wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of selling or eating it on trade in. I THOUGHT that I could convince myself that it was good enough for commuter duty but I could not stand it. I even tried giving it a bunch of ricer mods (cat-back fart can, intake, header) but I still could not warm up to it. Sold it to a friend for less than the cost of all the ricer mods...

Lastly, I took my IS300 with MT in for service. The dealership gave me a GS350 loaner. I thought it would be fun with all that extra power, compared to my IS. And it was... for about 10minutes. Then it just became another boring AT car... but with lots o' power...

I'm not sure if this is just cause it's a truck, but I really do enjoy having it as a AT daily driver (2008 Tundra Crewmax, and not that there was a choice for MT or anything like that.), and makes it nice for desert when I take it out, cause when you're playing around off road, shift gears is the last thing to worry about lol.

Now, any car, I will always prefer in a stick shift. I used to have CR-Z (honda hybrid), which was not fast by anymeans, but the 6MT in it definitely brought the fun back out of it. I've had my share of AT lexus's, etc. Those were fun in different ways, but never provided the same "fun" a MT does. MT definitely makes the "slow" cars fun.

You know, I really like the CR-Z concept, but I think they designed it for the Japanese market, which is why they had rear seats in Japan and the FWD layout.

If they forgot about making the rear hatch area useful and stuck the engine in the back, imagine how much fun that car would be.

I definitely agree.

The chassis was amazing for a FWD car. Nice and balanced, didn't plow a bunch (I mean this could've been aided by the BFG Rivals I had on it, which were way more tire then the car needed). Just wish it had a K series or something of the sort in it.
