At ~56/44 weight distribution post-swap, the FT86 isn't an ideal platform for a big-power LS IMO, but of course it can be done...
I'm coming from a 6.8 LS3 swapped FD RX-7, which at 50/50 post swap is a better place to start. But yeah, if you're not doing the work yourself you'll come out WAY ahead getting a C6 Z06. |

Roughly $35-40k if you want full canbus integration with a Motec. PureAuto could set you up. In the end, you won't have a Z06 drivetrain. You will have a LS7/LT1 or whatever engine with a Camaro T56. I haven't seen anyone swap a torque tube and rear transmission into an 86, but if your pockets are deep then anything can be done. I would just buy a used C6 Z06. Prices have come down a lot. You will have better weight distribution than a swapped 86 and a stronger platform. It won't be unique, but you can always twin turbo it or something.

Here you go.....
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...and-sport.html grand sport 29K miles..... a bit pricy but nice As a sidebar,, if you buy a Vette,, buy it from an old guy. One that spends it life in the garage and only comes on the weekends. There are plenty of them like this,, trust me.

Those that can do it are not asking if they should or what it costs. The impression seems to be that it is cheap, easy and fast to swap an engine. I suppose the availability of kits does make it ever so slightly easier than six or seven years ago but it is still not cheap nor fast. There are probably several hundred half done projects sitting and rotting under tarps beside garages for every completed swap no matter what year, make and model car you are talking about.

How can that be?!? Heck on one documentary, I saw them install it while it was running and half the crew was just dancing around....

The swap does not end at "Ok, I want to do this and so because I want to, I can." Square peg into round hole doesn't begin to cover it. More like squeezing an orange through the eye of a needle and intending for it to look like an orange at the end. |

Can get an LS1 for like $1500-2500 freedom bucks and put it into just about any car if you are a good enough welder/fabricator...
